HERE IS HOW TO MAKE AIR FRYER TOFU TERIYAKI:

WHERE CAN I FIND THESE INGREDIENTS?

You can find the ingredients to make Air Fryer Tofu Teriyaki at your local grocery store. Look for firm tofu, teriyaki sauce, corn starch, and sesame seeds in the produce and international foods aisles.

Most places have teriyaki sauce available, however, you can always make your own as well! It’s comprised of soy sauce, sugar, ginger, and garlic!

WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS?

The ingredients to make these delicious tofu bites are:

  • Firm Tofu
  • Teriyaki Sauce
  • Corn Starch
  • Oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Sesame Seeds

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?

This recipe is great if you want a meatless option packed with lots of flavor and also want a super quick weeknight dinner! The true equipment you’ll need is an air fryer. Trust me on this, having an air fryer was life-changing for me. I love being able to have super crispy foods without traditionally frying them in oil.

Aside from this, all you’ll need is a cutting board and knife to cut up the tofu in cubes as well as a mixing bowl to coat the tofu pieces in corn starch.

I love my Instant Vortex 4-in-1, 2-QT Mini Air Fryer and have been using it for years! It may be time for me to get a new one as it’s quite small but it served its purpose for so long and it’s also really cute and aesthetically pleasing!

Here are some of my favorite Amazon kitchen things that I own as well and love!

CAN I SUBSTITUTE/ADD ANYTHING OUT?

There isn’t much to substitute with this recipe but if you don’t have teriyaki sauce on hand or don’t like it, the crispy tofu itself is a great base for you to use whatever sauce that you’d like. Other than that, if you want to do this with meat, it works just as well!

Corn starch gives a really light crispy coating to the tofu but you can do this with chicken or other proteins as well. You will need some oil to brush on to ensure its crispiness. I like to use olive or coconut oil as a spray-on when I make this!

WHAT DOES AIR FRYER TOFU TERIYAKI TASTE LIKE?

Air Fryer Tofu Teriyaki offers a delightful blend of savory and sweet flavors. The crispy exterior of the tofu contrasts perfectly with the tender interior, while the teriyaki sauce adds a rich umami taste with hints of sweetness from the honey and depth from the garlic and ginger. Overall, it’s a deliciously satisfying dish with a perfect balance of flavors.

HOW LONG DOES IT KEEP FOR?

Air Fryer Tofu Teriyaki is best consumed as soon as you make it. With any “fried” or crispy foods, it is always best consumed immediately but if you do have leftovers, you can maintain its crispy texture by reheating it in the air fryer. Do note though that you definitely don’t want to overcook your tofu as it can become rubbery and hard so simply reheating it for a minute or two is fine!

Aside from that, this recipe typically lasts for 2-3 days when stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

INSPIRATIONS FOR THIS RECIPE?

I am my mother’s daughter and we’ve both loved tofu ever since I was little! My mom and I would often get tofu dishes when we were out with our favourite tofu dish being mapo tofu which is an authentic Chinese dish!

I enjoy eating meat and grew up with my whole family eating meat as well but I love incorporating tofu into my meals on rotation monthly. Tofu is a great clean protein for me and it’s great for lunch or when I’m not feeling like a heavy dinner. Love learning how to cook and enjoy tofu more often with different flavors!

ANY OTHER NOTES?

Yes, one note! In order to get the tofu really crispy, you will NEED to coat the tofu in corn starch as well as spray/brush on oil. It will NOT get crispy if you bypass these steps.
