HERE IS HOW TO MAKE GINGERBREAD SPICE MIX:
WHERE CAN I FIND THESE INGREDIENTS?
The ingredients to make this delicious gingerbread spice mix can be found in your local grocery store! The spices are pretty common to find all year round in grocery stores in North America, but the excellent thing about spices is that it lasts quite a while too! You should be able to look online and order specific spices to be delivered to your home if you don’t have the specific spices in this recipe at your local grocery store.
WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS?
Here are the ingredients to make a Gingerbread Spice Mix:
- Ground Cinnamon
- Ground Ginger
- Ground Nutmeg
- Ground Cloves
- Ground Cardamom
- All Spice
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
This recipe is the easiest! All you’ll want to have is measuring spoons and of course, a jar that you’ll be able to store this in! I like using glass mason jars with airtight lids, but you can use anything you have on hand! You can also use any old sauce jars or take-out containers! We love reusing what we already own 😍

CAN I SUBSTITUTE/ADD ANYTHING OUT?
For this recipe, which is quite rare for me to say, but I recommend not changing up any of the spices! You can perhaps lessen one and increase another if you want something specifically to be more prominent; however, I recommend keeping all the spices as is!
WHAT DOES GINGERBREAD SPICE MIX TASTE LIKE?
First off, it smells phenomenal!! It’s cozy, aromatic, and full of depth. The spicy heat of ginger, the sweetness of cinnamon, and the earthy notes of nutmeg and cloves blend together to create that classic “gingerbread” flavor. It’s sweetly spiced, a little peppery, and perfectly nostalgic like the scent of freshly baked cookies and cozy winter mornings all rolled into one.
HOW LONG DOES IT KEEP FOR?
This Gingerbread Spice Mix can last quite a long time if stored properly!
- Shelf life: about 1 to 2 years when kept in an airtight container in a cool, dark place (like a pantry or spice cabinet).
- For the best flavor, use it within 6 months to 1 year, since ground spices slowly lose their potency over time.
Tip: If it no longer smells fragrant when you open the jar, it’s time to make a fresh batch!
INSPIRATIONS FOR THIS RECIPE?
This gingerbread spice mix is actually inspired by my decorations! I’m a huge fan of gingerbread Christmas decor, and as I hung up my gingerbread garland, I thought why not try making a bunch of gingerbread themed recipes this year! I wanted to start off strong with a spice mix then continue on from there! I’m very excited to share more recipes soon!
