2021 is so close and it definitely feels like it flashed before my eyes. Can you believe that we were all wishing that this year would be over sooner? I have learned so much of myself this year.

I worked from home from the end of March 2020 to the beginning of August 2020 then I got laid off. It was a really sad time and I was angry for a little bit. I picked myself up and thought that this would be an excellent time to focus on content creation.

Productivity Tips For 2021 - Pin 1

Ever since then, I’ve been making videos, writing blog posts, taking photos, editing and everything in between. I made a vow to myself that I was going to focus on what I love. Thanks to my supportive husband, it was possible for me to do so!

My journey to have a routine/system that worked for me wasn’t always the case. It wasn’t until November that I fully decided on my goals and vision. I know that everyone will have a different case but this is what worked for me and I hope would work for you too!

HERE ARE 5 Productivity Tips For 2021:

Wake up before 9 am

While I was testing my schedule and what worked with me, I tried waking up at different times to see what was manageable. I would wake up at 5 am, 7 am, 10am, 11am until I finally decided that I was going to stay within the work hours of 9-5pm give or take any projects that require weird/more hours! I found that waking up between 7-830 am gave me plenty of quiet time, lots of light for filming and ending my work day around 5-6pm allowed me to spend more time with my husband.

Standing Desk/Breakfast Island/Tall Table

Kitchen Island
Continue reading all the details on 5 Productivity Tips For 2021.

If you’ve got a nice tall table or desk, try doing a standing desk. Way better for posture and it’ll make you feel less icky! When I’m sitting for long periods of time, my body feels super gross so it’s nice to take a few hours to stand and work.

Organize your week

Okay, so honestly I am the last person to give this advice out haha. I am so disorganized BUT I also organize my day the night before if that makes sense. I list out what I’m doing tomorrow so I’m not completely lost. It helps me, especially for film days. I know some people are much better with this than me but it’s something that I’m continuously working on!

Notepad & Pen

My brain moves at 1 million miles an hour and to not forget anything, I always write things down! You could use your phone notes/whiteboard as well if you’re paper-free 🙂

Work in an open space

I am lucky enough to have my own office in our house but I actually prefer to work in the living room. Our living room is an open concept design and I love opening all the windows and all the space to myself! I also love that I can get coffee or something warm in the kitchen whenever I want.

Recently, I was GIFTED this beautiful canvas from Photowall.

Photowall Canvas

Photowall is a company located in Skarpnäck near Stockholm, Sweden that creates beautifully designed wallpaper, prints, posters, canvas, and custom-made products.

When Lawrence and I got married, I had this vision of having a huge canvas of our favourite wedding picture in our home. I was thrilled that Photowall reached out for a collaboration! I was shocked that my print arrived so quickly! When we received our canvas, we assembled it together easily and hung it in our living room! The quality is wonderful and they got every little detail. I’m so happy with it and I’m thinking of purchasing something else soon!

Thank you to Photowall for my custom canvas print!

Xo,

Lynn

My kiddo has been waking me up before 9am lately and while I notice I get a little extra work done, I also find I need a nap at some point of the day. I know people argue this is healthy but sometimes it leave me feeling worse lol.

Canvas prints are so pretty! My mom was obsessed with them last year and sent us so many we’ve run out of wall space! I definitely need to find a place for the larger ones she’s sent!

    • lynnmumbingmejia says

      December 26, 2020 at

Naps are the best! I usually take naps too or sleep early when I just tired haha Agreed! This is my first Canvas print and it’s so pretty! Was so happy to get this beautiful piece from our wedding in our livingroom! Thank you 🙂

I’ll certainly keep these in mind for 2021! I really need to stop sitting so much, my poor back’s paying the price 🙁

I’ve heard of photo wall in the past, and I will check out their store right after this. Something I’m going to try in 2021 is batching, where a certain day is for a task. (like Monday for writing, and Tuesday for scheduling tweets, etc)

    • lynnmumbingmejia says

      December 26, 2020 at

Yes! I can’t stay sitting for more than 2 hours at a time. It makes me feel a little gross!

Yup! That is the best, I haven’t planned for January yet but that’s what I did for November/December. I did a lot of filming for my holiday content so I had to split my days (video editing, content scheduling, content writing, social media planning etc) It helped me soo much!

  3. Clarissa Cabbage says

    December 27, 2020 at

Great tips Lynn! It sounds like your year and my year have been fairly similar. Though I’ve been off work a little longer because of a work injury before covid hit. But then everything shut down in March and I was officially laid off in July. Like you I decided to make the best of my time by dedicating it to my blog and developing some digital products. I’m still trying to get used to working at home and making a schedule that works well for that. It’s a big adjustment from my last job which was incredibly physical. I love the standing desk idea – thanks!

I’m an early riser at around 5.30am, I find I’m super productive and can usually fit in a small 20 minute workout, get dinner started for the evening, make lunches for work and spend some time blogging all before I leave for work at 7.30! I feel great the rest of the day then.

I love photowall. That print is so lovely x

Love all of these productivity tips. Having a standing desk is so important, we often forget to get up and take a break, so at least being able to stand and work will help you fine. Big on waking up early too. You get to do more throughout your day! Being able to see your notes in a visual format is helpful. So many different alternatives for those who want to stay green, but yes with whiteboard! Thanks for sharing all of these different tips!

Honestly waking up before 9am is a must considering work has to be done and if you want more time to do things you need to get up earlier! I also love having post it notes everywhere because they’re easier for me to write on and then stick where I can see them in order to make sure what I wrote gets done. (:

I got a standing desk addition for my birthday last year, and I LOVE having that option. It adjusts easily between standing and sitting, allowing me to work however I feel like working at that time. I generally rotate between sitting and standing throughout the day which optimizes the health impact of it all.

Working in an open space definitely creates a sense of order and productivity about your blogging day, Lynn. I am working in a large open space now. We are staying beach side in Panama. A house with no air conditioning has 20 foot – or higher – ceilings, making for good ventilation, cool evenings, cooler mornings and a productive environment of space.
