Well-being in the workplace has been a hot topic of conversation for some time now. People have been more aware of taking care of their mental health and ensuring that they are living a happy life.

Most of us spend a good chunk of time at work so it’s important to know and feel that the company you are working for, cares for its employees as well.

Workplace wellness is designed to improve employee morale and boost work performance.

Wellness as described by Global Wellness Institute is made up of 6 components: Physical, Mental, Emotional, Spiritual, Social and Environment.

Although by no means, is it solely a workplace’s responsibility to establish that you have all of these components but since work plays a huge part in your life, it’s only fair that you have some of these options available to you.

Having a well-balanced life is essential to your personal growth and ensuring that you are happy and healthy. So planning your life to incorporate all of these pivotal pieces is key!

Here are 3 Easy Tips to Boost Workplace Well-being:

Team Sports/Encouraging Walking & Biking

If you work in an office setting, you may find yourself parked in a chair for the majority of the day. This affects your posture and overall physical health.

Team Sports promote both physical and social wellbeing and it’s also great to have an activity to look forward to every week with your coworkers that don’t involve talking about work.

A few team sports that workplaces coordinate include:

  • Baseball
  • Soccer
  • Basketball
  • Bowling

Encourgaging Walking or Biking to work is also a great way to promote physical well-being as well as have other benefits like saving money and not using gas.

Some ideas on how to do encourage walking/biking include:

  • Fun posters around the office
  • Lunch walking clubs
  • Walking pool for people who live nearby
  • Bike parking/storage/lock-ups

Healthy Snacks & Food Options 

I totally get it, healthy food isn’t always readily available for people! If your workplace sets aside a budget, you can get a good amount of fruits and vegetables that people can munch on for lunch or alternatively be a part of a fruit-a-week program. 

If this isn’t an option for you, you can bring in vending machines that offer healthier choices. This way when an employee wants to grab a snack instead of getting a coke and bag of chips, there are healthier alternatives to choose from that have more nutritional value.

Safety Precautions and Equipment

Environment plays a huge part in your wellness. It’s a human need to feel safe. A great way to achieve employee safeness is by getting the right safety precautions in place in your workplace.

It is not a secret that there might be days where there is a huge deadline coming up and you need to stay a little longer to make sure it is perfect and that you have everything ready to submit to a client! When you’re the last one in the office, you want to ensure that you are feeling safe and secure.

You’ll want to also make sure that all the equipment is up to date and being maintained!

    I cannot stress enough how important work place well being is! My last job was horrific for it and my mental health was so bad, but my new job omg my manager and team are amazing and always checking in and there are well- being teams as well. But your tips are great! Definitely agree exercise is important when working an office job xxx

    Hi Lynn!

    This is a great list of workplace well-being ideas, which I honestly wish more workplaces would adopt or consider.

    Before being furloughed from my previous job, the YMCA I worked for actually participated in a lot of group based activities, such as sponsoring 5k walks/runs, where they encourged us to participate in! It was a great team building opportunity and it helped to promote a healthier lifestyle!

Ube Butter Mochi 💜 I have been making this recipe Ube Butter Mochi 💜

I have been making this recipe for years and years now and have finally been able to post a recipe! I always whip this out whenever I have a family gathering and those are the most rushed times for me so I have never been able to film the recipe making process haha 😆 

My family is obsessed with these and I make them everytime I see them! It is the #1 requested item from me and I’m excited to share this recipe!

INGREDIENTS
* 1/2 Cup Unsalted Butter melted
* 2 Cups Granulated Sugar
* 4 Eggs
* 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
* 2 Tbsp Ube Extract
* 1 Box Mochiko Flour
* 2 tsp Baking Powder
* 1 can Evaporated Milk
* 1 can Coconut Milk

INSTRUCTIONS
* Preheat your oven to 350F and grease an 9×13 baking dish.
* In a large bowl, whisk together your butter, sugar, eggs, evaporated milk, coconut milk, ube extract, and vanilla extract until well combined. 
* Next, add in your mochiko flour and baking powder and whisk until the batter is smooth.
* Pour into baking dish in an even layer and bake in oven for 1 hour. 
* After 1 hour, let cool for 30 minutes then enjoy!

This Kimchi Avocado Toast is tangy, creamy, and perfect for a gut-friendly breakfast! Buttery avocado meets tangy, spicy kimchi for the perfect balance of richness and heat! All this layered on crispy toast makes for an easy, satisfying breakfast to start your day.

INGREDIENTS
* 1 Slice Sourdough Bread toasted 
* 1/2 Ripe Avocado mashed
* 1/4 Cup Kimchi chopped
* 1 Egg
* 1 Tbsp Butter or Oil to cook the egg
* Salt to taste

INSTRUCTIONS
* Toast the sourdough slice until your preferred toast level!
* Spread the mashed avocado evenly over the toast. Sprinkle lightly with salt.
* Heat butter or oil in a small pan over medium heat. Crack in the egg and cook to your preference (fried, sunny-side up, or over-easy).
* Spoon the chopped kimchi over the avocado layer.
* Top with the cooked egg, serve and enjoy!

This Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Syrup is sweet and packed with cozy cookie flavor! Perfect for stirring into iced coffee, drizzling over desserts, or upgrading your favorite drinks, it’s an easy homemade syrup that tastes just like classic cookie dough in liquid form.

INGREDIENTS
* 1 Cup Water
* 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar

* 1 1/2 tsp Cocoa Powder
* 1/2 Tbsp Vanilla Extract

* 1/4 tsp Salt

INSTRUCTIONS
* In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine water, brown sugar, and granulated sugar.
* Whisk until the sugars dissolve completely and the mixture begins to gently simmer.
* Whisk in the cocoa powder until fully incorporated and smooth.
* Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract, almond extract, and salt.
* Let cool completely before transferring to a sealed jar or bottle.
