HERE IS HOW TO MAKE CANDY CANE CHOCOLATE BARK:

WHERE CAN I FIND THESE INGREDIENTS?

To make Candy Cane Chocolate Bark, you can find the ingredients at various places, including:

  1. Grocery Stores: Your local grocery store is a convenient option. Look for chocolate chips or bars, candy canes, and any optional ingredients like nuts or sprinkles in the baking or seasonal aisles.
  2. Baking Supply Stores: Specialty baking supply stores often carry a wide range of chocolate and candy-making ingredients, including candy canes and decorative items.
  3. Online Retailers: If you’re looking for specific chocolate varieties, unique toppings, or candy canes in bulk, consider shopping online. Many online retailers specialize in baking supplies and offer a wide selection of products.
  4. Candy Shops: Candy stores sometimes stock a variety of candy canes and specialty chocolates, which can add a touch of uniqueness to your Candy Cane Chocolate Bark.
  5. Holiday Markets: During the holiday season, some special markets and Christmas-themed stores may offer seasonal ingredients like festive candy canes and chocolate varieties.

Remember to check for specific flavors and colors of candy canes or any unique chocolates to make your Candy Cane Chocolate Bark even more special. With these options, you’ll be well-prepared to create a delectable holiday treat.

WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS?

The ingredients to make these delicious Candy Cane Chocolate Bark are:

  • Dark Chocolate
  • White Chocolate
  • Candy Canes
  • Peppermint Extract

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?

This recipe is so easy and great! All you really need is good old Chef Mike (the microwave) or if you don’t have a microwave, you can melt the chocolate on the stove using the double boiler method! I usually do mine in the microwave but aside from that, you’ll want some good glass bowls and some parchment paper. You can use a blender to make the crushed candy cane pieces or you can be like me and just use a wooden spoon and lightly beat the candies until they are in small pieces!

CAN I SUBSTITUTE/ADD ANYTHING OUT?

Please make this recipe to your heart’s desire! I love using a mixture of dark and white chocolate but you can of course use semi-sweet, milk, or any other chocolate that you’d like! You can definitely use candy canes but peppermints work too! You only really need a drop or two of peppermint extract so I definitely recommend not altering this extract flavor as it will affect the result of your candy cane chocolate bark by a lot!

Last but not least, if you love sweet and salty treats, I highly recommend that you add in some pretzels or nuts and a sprinkle of flaky salt! I LOVE making a sweet and salty variation!

WHAT DOES CANDY CANE CHOCOLATE BARK TASTE LIKE?

Candy Cane Chocolate Bark offers a delightful taste that’s a harmonious blend of sweet, creamy, and refreshing mint flavors. Here’s what you can expect:

  1. Chocolate: The primary taste is the rich, indulgent flavor of chocolate. Whether you use dark, milk, or white chocolate, it imparts its characteristic sweetness and creaminess to the bark.
  2. Mint: The candy canes, which are crushed and sprinkled on top, bring a refreshing burst of minty flavor. This mint complements the sweetness of the chocolate beautifully, creating a classic holiday combination.
  3. Sweetness: Candy Cane Chocolate Bark is undeniably sweet, thanks to the chocolate and any additional sweet ingredients you might add, such as white chocolate drizzles or colored sugar sprinkles.
  4. Texture: The bark’s texture is a delightful mix of smooth and crunchy. The melted chocolate creates a smooth base, while the crushed candy canes and any other toppings provide a satisfying crunch.
  5. Customization: You can customize the taste to some extent by choosing the type of chocolate and any additional toppings or mix-ins, like nuts or colorful sprinkles.

Candy Cane Chocolate Bark is a festive and indulgent treat that combines the rich, comforting sweetness of chocolate with the invigorating coolness of mint. It’s a delightful and visually appealing holiday treat that captures the spirit of the season in each bite.

HOW LONG DOES IT KEEP FOR?

Candy Cane Chocolate Bark can last for several weeks to a few months when stored properly. The primary concern is the freshness and texture of the chocolate and candy canes.

Here are some storage guidelines:

  1. Room Temperature: Store the bark in an airtight container at room temperature in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. It will remain fresh for about 2 to 3 weeks. After this period, the chocolate may start to develop a slightly chalky texture, but it’s still safe to eat.
  2. Refrigeration: For longer storage, you can refrigerate the bark in an airtight container. In the fridge, it can last for up to 2 to 3 months. Keep in mind that refrigeration can cause the chocolate to sweat, which might affect its appearance but not its taste.
  3. Freezing: To maximize shelf life, you can freeze Candy Cane Chocolate Bark for up to 2 to 3 months. It’s best to wrap the bark in wax paper or parchment paper and then place it in an airtight container or freezer bag. Frozen bark should be thawed in the refrigerator before serving.

Always check for any changes in texture or flavor before serving if they’ve been stored for an extended period. Properly stored, this delightful treat can be enjoyed well beyond the holiday season.

INSPIRATIONS FOR THIS RECIPE?

Growing up, my dad loved 2 chocolates every Christmas and it would be Terry’s Chocolate Orange and After Eight peppermint chocolate patties. We’d often pick them up at the store as soon as they came on the shelves and start enjoying them! These two chocolates hold such a loving place in my heart and it also made me realize how much I love chocolate and mint together!

Moving forward, I love everything chocolate and mint. I enjoy chocolate biscuits with my peppermint tea, mint chocolate ice cream, and peppermint mocha, and thought this would be amazing, and trust me, it is!

The day I created these in my kitchen was also the day they were scarfed down haha.

ANY OTHER NOTES?

They are SO good kept in the fridge or freezer! I adore cold chocolate so the fridge or freezer makes them extra good and I recommend it!
