Pasta is generally not something that I crave, but I had a strong craving for this creamy spicy sausage pasta! I am deep into Fall mode, so cozy comfort meals are a must! Nothing more comforting than a rich, thick creamy sauce, hearty sausage and chewy pasta!

WHERE CAN I FIND THESE INGREDIENTS?
You should be able to find most of the ingredients for this recipe at your local grocery store, but I’m only speaking for North America! Other parts of the world may have difficulties finding ingredients, but hopefully you can get your hands on these ingredients! You can find the heavy cream and parmesan from your dairy section, the pasta, tomato paste, salt, pepper and chilli flakes in the pantry aisle, ground sausage in the meat or deli section and garlic and basil from the produce aisle.
WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS?
The ingredients to make this delicious comfort pasta dish are:
- Heavy Cream
- Tomato Paste
- Pasta Water
- Sausage
- Parmesan
- Fresh Basil
- Salt
- Pepper
- Garlic Cloves
- Chilli Flakes
- Pasta – of your choice! 2 servings
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
This recipe only requires basic kitchen equipment! You’ll want a cutting board and knife to chop up the garlic and basil, some measuring cups and spoons if you want to be very exact with measurements and of course some pots to cook the pasta and sauce in. You can use a grater to grate your parmesan, or you can buy pre-grated parmesan!

CAN I SUBSTITUTE/ADD ANYTHING OUT?
You sure can! I always recommend doing what you want to alter this recipe for sure! Here are some ideas you can do to make this recipe your own!
- Adding some veggies like spinach, kale, broccoli, mushrooms, tomatoes and zucchini
- Substituting the sausage for a different protein like chicken, beef, or shrimp
- Removing the chilli flakes if you don’t like spicy foods! I did this for my husband’s portion
- Adding some bacon for a smokey flavour
- Adding some lemon zest for a citrus kick
WHAT DOES SPICY CREAMY SAUSAGE PASTA TASTE LIKE?
This Spicy Creamy Sausage Pasta is the ultimate comfort food made with tender pasta, savory sausage, and a creamy, spicy sauce that packs just the right kick. The pasta is nice and chewy and paired with a creamy and savoury tomato based sauce makes it the perfect pair. The sausage gives it a nice meaty texture! I am salivating just thinking about it again, oh boy.
HOW LONG DOES IT KEEP FOR?
I made enough for 2 servings so I ate half for dinner one day and the leftovers for lunch the next day. You can of course double the recipe to make a larger portion! I recommend storing in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 4 days. This recipe really wasnt too tedious to make either so don’t worry about time when making this recipe! Took me a total of 20 minutes with chopping and everything. I had the pasta cooking at the same time as the sauce so everything was ready and fresh altogether fast!
INSPIRATIONS FOR THIS RECIPE?
I’m actually not a huge pasta person. I’m really into Asian flavours, so I prefer noodles. My fav noodles are udon noodles, which I love to make a miso butter sauce with, but I was really craving a comforting creamy dish and wanted to recipe test a creamy spicy tomato-based sauce. I made this and knew I had to make a recipe with exact measurements for the blog! It did not disappoint and is so yummy!
We’ll see in the future but this pasta has definitely turned me into a pasta girl. 🥰
ANY OTHER NOTES?
Yes! One thing to note is that I find that pasta water is a must! It really ties in the thickness of this sauce and also adds the saltiness so you don’t need to add additional salt!

Spicy Creamy Sausage Pasta
Ingredients
- 2 Servings Uncooked Pasta your choice! I follow the serving recommendations based on the package
- 1 Tbsp Salt
- 1/4 Cup Heavy Cream
- 1/4 Cup Pasta Water
- 3 Tbsp Tomato Paste
- 200 g Ground Sausage
- 1/4 Cup Grated Parmesan or as much as your heart desires <3
- 5-7 Leaves Fresh Basil thinly sliced
- 2 tsp Pepper
- 2 Cloves Garlic minced
- 2 tsp Chilli Flakes
Instructions
- In a medium sauce pot, add in your water and salt, then turn your stove to HIGH heat. Let water come to a boil.
- Add in your pasta and let it cook as per the package instructions or desired softness.
- While the pasta is cooking, in another medium sauce pot, turn your stove to MEDIUM heat, then add in your sausage.
- Let the sausage cook and brown up for 5 minutes, then add in your garlic, chilli flakes, and tomato paste and stir until everything has been well combined.
- Next, add in your pasta water and heavy cream and let everything come together. Turn the heat to low to simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Once the sauce has thickened up, add in your pasta, basil, parmesan and fresh black pepper. Let the sauce coat the pasta for about 3-5 minutes.
- Serve and enjoy!
