I am huge on aesthetics and home decor! It makes me so happy seeing my home gorgeous, light and airy.

Sometimes you just need that push to switch up your bedroom decor so you’re not stuck looking at the same view over and over again!

My husband and I moved into our 3 bedroom townhouse back in 2020 and it’s been so fun decorating and purchasing my decor myself!

I’ve been trying to purchase things slowly because I’ve been super focused on living intentionally. Living intentionally means that every decision you make every day is towards living the life you want most. For example, I want a really nice and big lakehouse and a few kids. This means while I’m on my way to doing achieving this life, I would need to make changes and decisions based on it.

I have to admit, it’s tough especially since I love shopping for home decor but budgeting helps a lot!

Do you live intentionally or live in the moment? I’d love to write a post on this! Let me know your thoughts!

My husband and I currently live in an expensive city which means if I want to save money for a lakehouse and kids, I’ll need to budget what I have right now and what money I’m making. With this being said, I’ve been working on decorating one room at a time and our bedroom hasn’t been a priority. We’re really only in there to sleep as our place is pretty big for 2 people.

You’ve probably seen shots of my gorgeous living room and shelf styling and honestly, that’s pretty much all the places in my home that’s been decorated! I’ve been also putting my money towards my blog and business so there’s only so much I can purchase right now!

I had some old hand-me-down things in our bedroom for a while but I budgeted a little bit this month and I’ve finally decided to take some time to decorate our bedroom and wanted to share a few easy ways to switch up your bedroom decor!

What are some ways you freshen up your bedroom decor?!

HERE are 5 Easy Ways To Switch Up Your Bedroom Decor:

Wall Decor

If you’re an ongoing reader of my website, you’d know how much I love wall decor and how I think it makes a whole world of difference! I am so thankful to have Photowall send me a gorgeous over-the-bed piece to freshen up my room!

Photowall is a Sweden wall-art company that’s passionate about creating inspiring living spaces with personality. I’ve collaborated with them in the past when they sent me my beautiful living room piece that’s my favourite wedding photo of my husband and I.

I am always so impressed with the quality and the hundreds of designs that you can choose from! You can also create custom pieces as I did with my wedding photo!

For my bedroom piece, I love keeping my decor as simple and as neutral as I can. I know a lot of people have different styles but for me, colourful and vibrant things overwhelm me and that’s just not a style of decor I prefer at home.

I chose a minimalist white texture piece that I thought would go really well with the decor that’s in our bedroom already!

Side Tables

Side tables are a great way to freshen up your bedroom decor and can be changed at an affordable cost! You can look on Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace for some used side tables or drop into an IKEA or Amazon for new cheaper ones. Thrift stores often have side tables that you can repaint as well!

My side tables are from IKEA which I actually regret but don’t mind at the moment! Next time I get the chance to purchase, I’ll definitely get ones with drawers so it looks tidier if we have things on there. I feel like without drawers everything looks cluttered faster whereas if you can store things lying around in the drawers, you have a bit more peace of mind.

Side tables are perfect to decorate as well! You can have some vases, lamps, books, frames etc!

Fresh Bedding

I have to admit, I have some bedding in my closet that has been passed on from my mom and mother in law and who knows how long they’ve had it! I knew it was time to buy some new, fresh and soft bedding!

The feeling of having a night shower or bath and slipping into clean and new bedding is a feeling like no other!

I bought new fresh white sheets a few weeks ago and although having white anything is like playing with fire, I don’t regret it at all! It feels as if I was staying in a hotel and such a nice change from the light grey and beige ones we’ve been using!

Having fresh bedding can dramatically change the feel of the room especially with changing it to white ones. It instantly brightens the room and often brings out the illusion of a bigger room. Darker furniture is gorgeous and modern but can definitely close a space a bit.

Here is what fresh bedding I purchased and what you see in my photos:

Lighting

Lighting in any part of your home makes a huge difference. When we first moved into our home, all the lightbulbs were dark and yellow so we switched EVERY single lightbulb in the house and now every room is bright and white! I love it so much and couldn’t believe how this little thing changes my whole mood!

Along with the main light sources, I added two lamps, one on each of the bedside tables. Although I do admit, I returned these lamps, they are super cute! I found that these particular ones I bought from Amazon were of terrible quality and I couldn’t get myself to keep them although being such a cute addition to my bedroom!

I’m currently searching for small cute white lamps so if you know any, send them my way!

Cushion Covers

Last but not least, cushion covers! I find that just like curtains, cushions covers are a great way to freshen up your bedroom look and feel. I like switching mine up every season or so and they are super cheap! You can even make them yourself if you’ve got the sewing skills!

I one day hope to make my own cushion covers but for now, I’ll just need to purchase them.

The cushion cover I have shown in my photos is from IKEA:

I haven’t gotten a ton of cushion covers but I do plan on picking up some more in time for the holidays. Shein has cheap covers, Simons has really nice quality ones and also Homesense or even Walmart!

You can also just buy the cushion but I like being able to wash the covers instead of having to clean the whole pillow or cushion. Also, I find them a bit cheaper! Buying the whole cushion is a lot more expensive as you’re purchasing the pillow and design cover whereas if you just reuse the cushion insides, you can switch out the cover often and just pay for the fabric instead!

Some of my favourites on Amazon that I recommend are:

I hope you enjoyed my post on 5 Easy Ways To Switch Up Your Bedroom Decor!

Does my bedroom look like this most days? Oh heck no. I’ve said this time and time again, I am a messy person.

I clean and tidy the house once a week but honestly, there are clothes on the floor and things everywhere sometimes! I keep a junk storage drawer in the closet where I put little random things but I love seeing my bedroom like this, that’s for sure!

I like keeping my things to a minimum and still am working on cutting things down. The more things I have the more anxious I feel!

Have you done any easy ways to switch up your bedroom decor? What’s one thing you do often? I’d love to know in the comments below!

Lynn
