My Favorite Filipino Pantry Staples

Read more for all the details on Filipino Pantry Staples.

I’m super excited to be sharing this post as Filipino culture is very prominent in my household!

For those who don’t know, I am Canadian born and raised but full Filipino! My parents immigrated here 20+ years ago and had me in Canada. My husband was born and raised in the Philippines and immigrated here when he was young with his family.

Growing up, my parents would always go to Asian grocery stores and there would be lots of treats that I could pick and choose from! As I grew up, I learned to make lots of Filipino dishes and now cook Filipino meals for my husband and I. The only thing that was a little sad was that I never learned any languages as my parents were too busy learning English so I can barely speak/understand Tagalog!

Now, most of the items I’m writing about is snacks and instant meals but I hope to share more Filipino dishes in the future.

Filipino Pantry Staples - Pin 1

My husband and I are big snack people. There are weeks where we don’t have any snacks in the house and some weeks that we only have snacks in the house haha.

Let me know if you’re familiar with any of Filipino Pantry Staples! I’d love to know what you’ve seen or tried in the comments below!

HERE ARE MY FAVORITE FILIPINO PANTRY STAPLES:

If you haven’t subscribed to my YouTube channel, don’t forget to! A full video on this comes out tomorrow.

Piattos

Our household favorite! These thin and cheesy chips are so addictive! It’s super hard to stop!

Roller Coaster

Honestly these chips are similar to Piattos above! They are thicker and are shaped as like small hallow circles!

Chippy

These to me are like Fritos! I love these corn chips! They also have a bit of a kick.

Ding Dong

Oh man, Ding Dong’s are my weakness! I will literally eat the whole bag in one sitting. I love these crunchy mix of snacks so much!

Boy Bawang

This is actually a favorite of a lot of people! I’ve often given some away or have had some out during parties and get asked what it is and where to purchase it!

Sweet Filipino Spaghetti Sauce

Filipino spaghetti is a fav throughout! If you’ve ever had Jollibee and tasted their spaghetti, its similar! I actually did a YouTube tutorial on this, click here to watch!

Banana Ketchup

Contrary to the name of this sauce, it does not taste like Bananas! It’s essentially a sweet ketchup. Perfect for fried foods!

Gina Mango/Pineapple Juice

Yum! I always like a good pineapple and mango juice. These ones definitely taste artificial Lol but reminds me of my childhood! The downside to this is that it always felt like there wasn’t enough to quench your thirst!!

Spam

Definitely most popular as a Hawaiian pantry staples but we love spam too! We don’t have it often but when we do, it satisfies all cravings!

Sardines

I have to admit, it took me a long time to actually like this. I didn’t use to like tomato sauce AND fish all that much but a friend of mine recommended that I cook this into scrambled eggs and I liked it! My parents would just have it alone or on toast/white rice.

Corned Beef

I could say many many things about this one. This is probably my husband’s fav food. He can eat corned beef everyday if he could. We try to not overdo the processed meats but he loves it and swears that if he needed to save money, he’d have this everyday! It’s about $5 per can and it lasts about 4-5 meals!

Stickos

As I’m writing this, I’m staring at an empty container. I LOVE STIK-O!! They have many different flavors but Ube (purple yam) is my fav! It’s highly addictive and honestly bad for you Lol

Century Tuna

I didn’t know about this brand till recently but it’s so good! Century Tuna also has many different flavors as well! I’ll never go back to just regular tuna.

Lucky Me Instant Noodles Bowls

This Chicken Sotanghon is actually the only flavor I like. I used to keep some in my desk when I worked in an office and would have it if I didn’t bring lunch.

Pancit Canton

You might’ve seen this!! It was trending on Tiktok for a little bit. The green Calamansi flavour is so good!!! It’s basically instant noodles but its dry and doesn’t have soup!

Sky Flakes

Sky Flakes is in my opinion is a more denser version of saltine crackers! I like the different flavors they have though! Chocolate is my fav.

Mama Sita’s BBQ Marinade

LAST BUT NOT LEAST! If you follow me on socials, you’d know how much I love this!! I use this marinade literally on everything and it’s so delicious! I made my pork roast with this sauce for Easter! Highly highly recommend you try it, especially if you like sweet BBQ.

I tried to only add my real favs but honestly there are so many products missing! I go nuts whenever I head into Asian markets because I don’t go often.

Hope you enjoyed this post and you get a chance to try some Filipino staples!

Have you seen or tried any of these Filipino Pantry Staples?! I’d love to know your thoughts below!
