As soon as the leaves start to turn orange and red, the weather becomes cooler, and the sunset becomes earlier and earlier, the only thing on my mind is Halloween movie nights with an assortment of fun treats!

These Jack-O-Lantern Floats are an easy and adorable Halloween treat that both kids and adults will love! Made with fizzy orange pop, creamy vanilla ice cream, and a cute green candy stem, these festive floats look just like little jack-o-lanterns.

The best part is that you only need a few ingredients and supplies to put them together. Simply decorate clear cups with jack-o-lantern faces, add your orange pop and vanilla ice cream, and finish with a green candy on top for the stem!

HERE IS HOW TO MAKE JACK-O-LANTERN FLOATS:

WHERE CAN I FIND THESE INGREDIENTS?

You can find all of the ingredients for these Jack-O-Lantern Floats at your local grocery store or convenience store.

Orange pop can usually be found in the beverage aisle, while vanilla ice cream is available in the freezer section. For the green candy, you can use your favourite green-coloured candy and find it in the candy aisle. I was lucky and found green candy that look like leaves at the dollar store! I also had green straws that I honestly took from Starbucks haha

WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS?

For the Jack-O-Lantern Floats, you’ll need:

• Orange pop
• Vanilla ice cream
• Green candy for the pumpkin stem

Materials

To create the cute jack-o-lantern look, you’ll also need:

• Clear plastic cups
• Black Sharpie to draw the jack-o-lantern faces
• Green straws

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?

You don’t need any special kitchen equipment for this recipe! You’ll just need:

• Ice cream scoop
• Black Sharpie
• Plastic clear cups
• A clean surface for decorating the cups

CAN I SUBSTITUTE/ADD ANYTHING OUT?

Absolutely! These floats are easy to customize.

Instead of orange pop, you can use orange soda, orange cream soda, or another orange-colored fizzy drink.

You can also switch up the ice cream flavors. Try:

• Orange sherbet
• Chocolate ice cream
• Pumpkin ice cream
• Caramel ice cream
• Cookies and cream ice cream

For the green stem, you can use different types of green candy or even a small piece of green licorice.

It’s similar to a classic ice cream float but with a fun orange flavour that makes it perfect for Halloween!

HOW LONG DOES IT KEEP FOR?

These Jack-O-Lantern Floats are best enjoyed immediately after making them.

Because the ice cream starts melting and the soda can lose its fizz, they don’t store well once assembled.

If you’re preparing them for a Halloween party, you can decorate the cups ahead of time and keep the ingredients chilled. Then, quickly assemble the floats right before serving. I like to make mine either right before I press play on my movie or pause in the middle of the movie to make a treat!

INSPIRATIONS FOR THIS RECIPE?

The inspiration for these Jack-O-Lantern Floats came from wanting to create a simple Halloween treat that also doubles as a fun party decoration. You really don’t need to make elaborate things to celebrate a fun holiday or season.

I love festive recipes that don’t require baking or complicated ingredients, especially during busy holiday seasons. Turning an ordinary orange soda float into a cute little jack-o-lantern is such an easy way to make a simple treat feel extra special.

The clear cups make the orange pop look like a pumpkin, while the hand-drawn jack-o-lantern faces bring the whole idea to life. Adding a green straw and candy stem gives each float the perfect finishing touch! I love that it pretty much uses 2 ingredients, which are orange pop and ice cream, so it’s doable for everyone!

ANY OTHER NOTES?

• Draw the jack-o-lantern faces on the outside of the clear cups before adding your drink.
• Make sure the Sharpie is completely dry before handling the cups.
• Add the ice cream right before serving so the float stays cold and fizzy.
• Don’t overfill the cups with orange pop because the ice cream can cause the drink to foam up. (Made this mistake a few times haha)
• Customize each cup with a different jack-o-lantern face for a fun Halloween party activity.
• If making these for a party, decorate all of the cups ahead of time to make serving quicker and the Sharpie dries in time!
