Did you do Veganuary this month or have switched to a plant-based diet? I do have to admit that I am not vegan and I eat meat/seafood but I do believe in everything in moderation and eating well balanced. I quite enjoy vegan substitutes and have them quite frequently.

When I was in post-secondary, I worked in a fast food place called Freshii but they focused on healthy products. They prepared their tofu in a similar way and since then I haven’t turned back.

Just like my mom, I enjoy tofu. We would often have Mapo Tofu and Egg Tofu at Chinese Restaurant and she also cooked different kinds of tofu dishes at home.

CONTINUE READING ALL THE DETAILS ON The Easiest Tofu Marinade.

My favourite thing about this marinated tofu is that you can do anything with it! The other day I made fresh rolls with rice wrappers, lettuce, cucumbers and homemade peanut sauce for lunch and the next day I crumbled my tofu and put it on top of fresh white rice and some steamed veggies on the side. You could make some “Asian” tacos and use this as ground beef. You can form it into a patty for a burger. Honestly, the list is endless!

I’d say you can make it at the beginning of the week, cook it and store it in the fridge for up to 4 days or you can leave it in the marinade for 7. Make sure you let it soak for at least 2 hours before cooking! You don’t need to reserve the marinade but can definitely thicken it up and add it as a glaze on top.

My friend Freya also did a Quick and Easy Vegan Tofu Bowl recipe that looks so amazing with peanut ginger sauce. Yum!

I’ve also made an Instagram reel, here!

HERE’S HOW TO MAKE The Easiest Tofu Marinade:

Where can I find these ingredients?

Tofu is available everywhere so literally anywhere! As for the rest, any basic Asian market will do or if your grocery store has an Asian aisle then you should be able to find sriracha, sesame oil and soy sauce. This is the easiest and best-tasting version I’ve followed but you can add fresh ginger, garlic, onions, oyster sauce and any other spices you’d like.

What are the ingredients?

-Tofu (I always like mine medium firm)

-Soy Sauce

-Sesame Oil

-Sriracha

-Brown Sugar

-Garlic Powder

-Water

-Salt & Pepper

Can I sub anything out?

You most definitely can! I’m not totally familiar but I believe liquid aminos is fairly similar to soy sauce. Brown sugar can be swapped with honey or monkfruit sweetener. Just make sure to add in a little at a time and don’t be able to taste the marinade to make sure you have it right before spoiling all of your tofu!

What does it taste like?

This marinade reminds me so much of a pokĂš bowl! The sesame, soy and sriracha complement each other so well. Imagine an ahi tuna shoyu pokĂš bowl and just swap the tuna for tofu and that’s literally what it tastes like! The texture of tofu is quite different so if you’d never had it before, it can either be super soft or super firm. Really up to you!

Sesame Soy Tofu Marinade

This recipe is my favourite Sesame Soy Tofu Recipe! I've never gotten sick of it and can have it every week. Can top this tofu on salads, burgers, rice, tacos, soups and so much more!
Print Recipe Pin Recipe
Prep Time 4 minutes mins

Ingredients

  • 1 Package Tofu I use medium firm but it's your choice!
  • 1/2 Cup Soy Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Sriracha
  • 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
  • 1 Tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • 1 Salt, Pepper, Garlic Powder (To Taste)

Instructions

  • Slice tofu and place into a air tight container.
  • Grab a seperate bowl and whisk all the ingredients together.
  • Pour over tofu and store in the fridge for up to 2 hours before cooking.

Notes

  • Make sure to let soak for a least 2 hours before cooking
  • Firm or soft works as well depending on what dishes you’ll be making

This was a little rushed I have to admit but it didn’t even occur to me that I should share it! I remembered that a lot of people were participating in Veganuary and thought would be nice to write a short post on it. I swear by this recipe and I really enjoy it.

Do you like tofu? How do you cook your tofu meals?! I’d love to know in the comments!

Xo,

Lynn

Hands down, this has to be the only tofu marinade recipe we ever use. It is delicious, even without the hot sauce, and lends a sweet tang to the tofu. We also use it on various meats. 🙂

That’s one of the benefits of cooking with tofu – it takes on the flavors of whatever you pair it with. Yum, this marinade recipe sounds great. And yes, Bragg’s does taste like soy sauce. Coconut aminos also tastes like soy sauce. I also use the Lankanto brand of monkfruit instead of sugar. Works great.

Yes! I use the Lankanto brand too. Thanks for commenting x
