So, I’ve been debating whether or not to write a Valentine’s Day decor post as I’ve never really decorated for Valentine’s Day before. I’m never one to promote or write a post on something unless I fully stand by it or do it so I was on the fence but you know what, this is the first year I am actually decorating for Valentine’s Day!

I felt like 2020 and obviously, this year just needs as much cheer as it can get! I can’t do too much because I’ve budgeted my money quite tight for the next few months but I am keeping it simple.

If you’ve been following me for a long, you know I am big on whites/beiges/natural wood theme into my house. I love having a bright and open aesthetic and I would say my style is closest to boho.

PIN FOR LATER:

I’m trying to keep things affordable for me so I’ve been super focused on interchangeable decor and being able to alter what I have throughout the seasons. I also have never loved tacky and bright things so bright/neon pinks and reds are not for me.

I do admit that a lot of my decor I buy is from the Dollarstore as well as pieces here and there from Amazon and Michael’s. I try my best not to go to Michael’s that often because I know myself and I know I will gladly take half the store.

You could alternatively create some paper crafts as well! Querianson has a blog post on Valentine’s day DIY wall decoration idea to make at home which is all paper crafts!

HERE ARE MY TOP 5 Inexpensive Valentine’s Day Home Decor:

Heart Wreaths

This is one I’m definitely going to try out. I think a cream/off white one would look super cute + I could find everything at the dollar store. This pin below showcases it perfectly!

Valentine’s Printables

Printables are hands down my favourite home decor! I love how easy it is to switch it out and I can do it whenever I want. I’m releasing Valentine’s Day printables in my monthly newsletter on the 31st so if you haven’t signed up for my email list, click here!

Wall Signs

Wood wall signs are my fav! I basically sold everything from my wedding in 2019 including my wedding dress! I’m never really been a person who was attached to certain objects but one thing I think I’ll keep forever is our Welcome to the Wedding of Lawrence and Lynn. It was perfect and I love it!

There are so many wall signs are Michael’s and are often on sale but if you’d like to DIY, you could get all the materials from the dollar store and put it together yourself which is so nice as you can customize it to make it personal.

Cushions

I’m not sure if I can grab cushions this year but I’m definitely adding it sometime in my life! I think they are so cute but they are honestly a little expensive.

A cheaper alternative would be to just make cushion covers which you can sew yourself with Valentine’s Day fabric of your choice! I don’t think I’d complete this project on time but it’ll be on my to-do for next year 100%!

Fresh Bouquets (Or Dried)

Last but not least, fresh bouquets! How can you go wrong with some flowers? Last week, I actually went up to my husband and said “don’t buy me any flowers without saying me first!” He was so confused until I told him that I was going the practical route this year and would love to purchase a bunch of dried stems and floral so I can keep it forever and have them to decorate my vases all over the house. I can’t wait to get myself bunches of bunny tails and cotton balls!

5 Inexpensive Valentine's Day Home Decor - Bouquet

One last amazing craft to make for Valentine’s Day would be these super cute Heart Shaped Macrame Coasters that Aimsy shared on her blog!

I’m starting to decorate tomorrow and I can’t wait! Do you decorate for Valentine’s Day? If you do, what are your favourite pieces? I’d love to know in the comments below!

    • lynnmumbingmejia says

      January 28, 2021 at

You know what, same with me. A few years back when I had my wedding, I decided to DIY everything because I thought it would be cheaper. That was a huge mistake and I ended up spending more. I think I’m a lot better now hahah but I feel you on this! Thanks for reading x
