I’ve been on a banana-flavoured everything train for the past couple of weeks! Last summer, I had a banana bread latte from a local coffee shop, and it changed my life. Whenever I’d order coffee, if there was a banana bread latte, I’d always order it!!
Fast forward, I kinda forgot about it, but Starbucks released banana cream protein cold foam, and I went from not buying Starbucks for months to buying a Starbucks drink 6 times in one month, all because I was obsessed with the banana flavour! Moving forward, that is not sustainable AT ALL, so I made my own at home, and I’m in love! 😍

HERE IS HOW TO MAKE BANANA BREAD SYRUP:
WHERE CAN I FIND THESE INGREDIENTS?
These ingredients are super easy to find anywhere, and it only requires 6 things too! I recipe tasted a few times to get the ingredients to the right proportion and I love how this turned out! You’ll want some ripe bananas and honestly, the riper the better! When it’s ripe, it is the sweetest and brings out the most flavour.
Other than that, you’ll need basic staples like ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, brown sugar, white sugar and water! Hopefully you already have all of these things at home but if not, it is easily available at your local grocery store.
WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS?
Here are the ingredients to make this delicious banana bread syrup!
- Mashed Ripe Banana
- Ground Cinnamon
- Vanilla Extract
- Water
- Brown Sugar
- White Sugar
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
For this recipe, you’ll need a bowl to mash your banana in! Make sure to mash it real good so all the flavours cook up! Then you’ll need a small sauce pot as well as a spoon to stir it. To measure all the ingredients, you’ll want a set of measuring cups and spoons.
I keep my syrup in a little old jam jar but one day I will have a beautiful setup for my syrups! Here are some of my Amazon kitchen favs:
CAN I SUBSTITUTE/ADD ANYTHING OUT?
Hmm, for this recipe, I made it very specific so I don’t necessarily have a lot of recommendations for adding or substituting ingredients out but here are some ideas that may be good!
- Adding cocoa powder to make it banana chocolate flavoured
- Adding a sprinkle of nutmeg
WHAT DOES BANANA BREAD SYRUP TASTE LIKE?
Banana bread syrup tastes like a freshly baked banana bread in liquid form. 🍌✨
It’s sweet, rich, and slightly caramel-like, with deep banana flavor and hints of vanilla and brown sugar. There’s a cozy, baked-good warmth to it, almost like the soft, golden edges of banana bread melted into a smooth syrup. It’s comforting, nostalgic, and perfect for adding that homemade bakery vibe to drinks and desserts.
HOW LONG DOES IT KEEP FOR?
Banana bread syrup will typically last:
- In the fridge: about 2–3 weeks in an airtight container or sealed bottle.
- Not recommended at room temperature, since it can spoil quickly due to the fruit content.
Give it a quick shake or stir before using, and discard if you notice any sour smell, mould, or unusual separation.
INSPIRATIONS FOR THIS RECIPE?

I always knew that I could easily make a banana bread syrup but have been putting it off. I’ve now perfected a super easy recipe and am kicking myself for it!! I wish I did this sooner!
