As we approached the New Year, we all had many different resolutions for 2021. Some might be towards fitness others might be towards work habits and so on!

One of my biggest goals this year was to work smarter and not harder. I’ve spent the past 4 months working from home and learning everything I need to know to be a full time digital creator and it’s been frustrating but so rewarding. I’ve got so much more things to learn!

Some days are completely discouraging while other days are so motivating. It’s a cycle that everyone goes through. We have our highs and lows and that’s totally okay!

One thing that is super important to me is having a good working environment. I’ve written about this in the past but clutter makes me feel a lot more stressed and disorganized so it’s important for me to keep a nice and clean workspace.

A few of my best investments this year has been related to my home/office space and making sure it is always setting me up for success.

I used to have a Cloffice in our guest bedroom but my mother in law has been currently living with us so she’d taking over that room. I’ve literally created small workspaces all throughout the house. I have a table and dining room chair in the bedroom and I also use my husband’s gaming set up as he has 2 huge monitors to work on.

I film a lot of recipes and videos in my kitchen and since our home is still quite bare, I decided to take the spare furniture that was in my cloffice and move it to the living room and create a workspace which will be super helpful on film days!

I’ve also done a full Clean With Me on Youtube for my new workspace!

Notebook & Pen

As much as I rely on my Macbook and the drive, I still like taking notes and writing my to-do lists the old fashion way! A notebook and pen is a must have for me to write my thoughts quickly.

Blanket/Pillow

I am straight up always a cold person. I need a blanket on me all the time or I get sleepy. I love sleeping when it’s cold. A pillow to support my back on long days working is also super important!

Wall Art

Wall art is probably my most favourite piece of home decor as it’s super easy to switch out whenever and makes your home more full. Just be sure to have simple pieces to not be overcrowded.

Plant/Floral

This is going to sound a tad off but having a plant or basically something “living” is another great way to make your workspace more enjoyable. I don’t have a green thumb at all and to put it into perspective, the last plant I had and killed was a cactus LOL

Coffee

I am a big coffee lover. Like I used to drink 6 cups and now I’m making it decaf because I even knew it was crazy. During the holidays, its hot chocolate and once in a while its a green tea or lemon water which is a nice balance.

    1. Thanks Jenny! I do the same too. Honestly, I work where I please Lol so sometimes its my bed, sometimes its the couch, sometimes its the floor haha

  3. I am the same with workspace decluttering and minimalism! I actually have a foldable table so I open it up where I want to work and put everything back when I’m done. It helps keeps the clutter down haha.

  6. Unfortunately, I don’t have an at home workspace, I’m planning to change that tho! Ur workspace looks so beautiful and the colours are so fab! This has definitely given me ideas of what to include in my workspace when I decide to create one!

  7. I don’t have a dedicated workspace & I usually work at the dinning table or on the couch, but I defintiely agree with these! I usually take notes in a notebook & I alwayshave a blanket (including right now haha). Instead of coffee, I would swap it out with tea!

  11. Haha I love that coffee is on this list, definitely a work essential for me too! I have to have notebooks, planners and my pencil case as well. I prefer to do the majority of my planning on paper still x

  12. Ouu loving these ideas! I definitely agree that there are highs and lows when it comes to blogging and days where we feel unmotivated. But our environment can really make a difference to make us more motivated for sure. Thank you for these suggestions!

  13. I have a list notebook that I can’t live without. There’s something about writing it down on paper that just makes me feel more organised. And that feeling when you complete a task and get to cross something off is worth it all 🙂

  14. Love your set up..so clean and minimalistic. I have a desk but I never use it, like to just sit around couches and chairs lol

  15. Oooh love this! I really like how you went with things that are a little different to what you would maybe expect to see in a workplace essentials list! My workplace is currently a disgrace because I moved inside for the winter so I’m currently working with a piano stool as a desk!

    1. Aw, don’t worry! I feel ya. I work everywhere at times too, on the floor, in bed, on my kitchen counter haha We find ways to make it work! Thank you so much for reading Alice xx

  16. This is great, I tend to run cold as well so I always have to have a blanket on my whenever I’m working as well! I also need to make sure that my desk is nice and tidy, when it is I get more work done x

  17. We are so alike…I love having a blanket on whilst I work away at the ‘desk’ haha…even in summer I like to have a blanket even if I am warm! ? You also can’t beat wonderful wall art and plants…it just lifts the space, doesn’t it?

  18. Yes, I totally agree with these – especially prints! I always love to be able to write things down on paper, so I like to bullet journal. I’m not obsessive about it, I go with when I’m really feeling able to dedicate to that level of organisation!

  19. Yes to all of these! If I could have coffee on tap that would be amazing haha. I’ve also been loving having some flowers to bring some freshness!

  23. I love your workspace! A lot of these are essentials for me too! Thanks for sharing, I loved reading this! 🙂

  24. Your workspace looks so nice! Like you, I have work spaces all over the house. I don’t have any set space. There are a few things I need to have with me though. Pillows for my back and coffee is an absolute must have for my workspace! Thanks for sharing your space!

  25. I love how you still make use of a notebook and pen to make notes! ???
Definitely having the right environment set up helps with productivity, as does it being clean and tidy ?

  27. I have notebooks and pencils and my planner on my desk and I love to have my retro radio and A glass of mineral water — makes me feel ready for my day! Thanks for sharing your must-haves I love finding out what other people do as I get so many tips!

  28. Wondeful post! I love plants but they never grow ?. I don’t have a green thumb so I settle for fake plants lol. Love the list. Thanks for sharing hun.

  29. From your list is coffee. Nothing gets done or started without it. And in addition to that some music – via my headphones and my favourite tracks!

  30. Your workspace tips definitely create a cosy atmosphere of work from home. For me, nothing is done without coffee, as it serves as a motivating factor: a cup after a task batch done

  31. Yes to all of these! Especially the blanket and the pillow – they are my must haves too – cannot go a day without them!!

  32. Thanks for sharing your tips, im in the process of changing my workspace!

  33. Agreed with all these essentials. I also like having some hand cream and a big water bottle with a glass straw to maintain me hydrated throughout the day (for some reason we increase our water intake if we drink it through a straw).
Also, sometimes I enjoy having an aroma diffuser or a candle next to me for a more enjoyably work ambiance. I strongly recommend it if you haven’t tried it yet.

    1. Ooh! Those are good ones! I also have a water bottle with a straw and can confirm its the only reason I’m hydrated haha I love having a candle lit as well but not me near because I’m a klutz and will for sure set the house on fire and knock it over!! Thanks for sharing some of your must-have’s too xx

      1. Oh yes, be careful with candles and fire. Better avoid it if you’re afraid of making a (dangerous) mess.
PS. Drinking water from a straw while writing this post. Yay hydration haha 🙂

  34. I love having a plant at my desk! And there’s no way I’d make it without my blanket either

  35. I love all 5 things! A have a pillow for my chair, it started off to be because the chair was breaking but now it’s v comfy ahah. Prints and flowers are a must – they just encourage you and brighten up the room a bit 🙂 Love this post xx

  36. Even though I WFH on my laptop, I have 2 pen and ad style notepads with me all times. It helps me to be organised and I like being able to note down ideas and keep everything neat!
    Rosie

  37. Love this! My workspace used to be at our dining room table, but when I found out we were going back until sometime this summer, I took over a corner in our back room! I think being by a window or some source of natural light is important – a sunny day instantly improves my mood 🙂

  38. You supplied another great post. I really enjoy your posts about workspaces. I am always looking for ways to make my home office more cozy. It really motivates me to want to sit down actually get some work done.

I guess for me all I need is my favorite pens, notebook, and a nice cup of coffee. Iced preferred. And then I am ready to conquer my day.

    xo Erica

  39. You and I are on the same page as far as coffee, a blanket, a pillow, a notebook, and a pen are concerned! The other parts of this posts are different ideas, but I absolutely love them and I am happy you shared them. I will definitely have to incorporate them into my workspace. Your list gives off such a comfortable vibe and that definitely boosts productivity. Great post!

  40. I couldn’t live without all of the above in my workspace. I’m also cold all the time and I like sitting with my feet on a hot water bottle, super cosy!

  41. Love this! Since moving into my office, I’m starting to realise what my must-haves are for the day! I need to have a drink with me all the time because I get so thirsty and a heater because I’m usually cold in there with it being in the garden!

    1. I loooove my heater so much! My home is quite old and I always worry about the electricity bill since I have it on so much haha Must be really nice in the summer! Thanks Jenny x

  42. Great post! I love seeing what is one your workspace. 🙂 As for me important are tea + some books so if I have a break I can just grab one and read a bit. I also like having flowers next to me to add a bit of extra colour!

  43. I, too, have lost my workspace since everyone is home because of COVID. I’ve managed to do my proofreading, editing and beta reading in various spaces around our home. I love your idea about having a living plant or flowers in a workspace.

  44. Since working from home, I can’t be without my warm & cozy slippers! I like having a window for the natural light and scenery to give my eyes a break from the computer. When I was working in the office, I kept pictures of loved ones and plants at my desk.

  45. Wow, your workspace looks so Pinterest-y! Neat and aesthetically pleasing. I don’t know about a blanket in my workspace, tempts me to sleep haha. I agree with you on the notebook and pen! Writing is supreme. Thanks for sharing.

  46. Definitely always have a notebook and pen! Will save this post for when I move out of my university house so I can start decorating my new work space 🙂

  47. I love that you’ve bee creative with your home space and found a new place for you to work! I also need all of these things to sit down and work too. Good ol pen and paper is right at the top of my list, lol. Also, always have blankets too lol

  48. These are great essentials! I’m in the process of setting up and organising my home office so this is useful. A comfortable chair and arm rest is a must for me!
