Halloween colours are typically orange, black, grey, purple, green and grey. Nearing the end of summer, we start to see Halloween decorations in stores and are overwhelmed with these bright and really tacky colours!

I don’t know about you but I love my home with neutral colours. Bright colours are overstimulating for me and it makes me feel more anxious than calm so there’s no way that I would want my home to feel like that every day.

I definitely am a huge fan of Halloween but I needed to find a way to decorate my home in a more modern less tacky way. So, in this post, I’m going to be sharing 15 modern Halloween home decor ideas!

Do you like decorating your home in neutral or bright colours?! I’d love to know below!

PIN 15 Modern Halloween Home Decor Ideas FOR LATER:

Modern Halloween Home Decor Ideas - Pin 1

I’m Canadian so Decorating is a bit tough! Thanksgiving is before Halloween and I usually host so I need to decorate my home for Fall. Then after Thanksgiving, it’s Halloween but I only really get 2 weeks to have Halloween decor up. After Halloween, it’s a little too early to decorate for Christmas so I need to put the Fall decor up.

I guess by now, I am used to it but with Halloween being so fun and all, it sucks that we only get to have our decor up for a small amount of time!

Are you a Halloween decorator or tend to skip it and just keep fall decor?! Let me know in the comments below!

HERE 15 MODERN HALLOWEEN HOME DECOR IDEAS:

Door Mat

A doormat is one of the most subtle but amazing ways to decorate your home! It’s interchangeable and if you have a good quality one, you’re able to keep it and use it forever!

Here are some of my favourite Etsy picks of Halloween Doormats:

Garland

Garlands are one of my favourite decors! I use garlands for every party I have and I proudly my them myself! You can easily make a variety of garlands to hang around your mom. My favourite place is on the mantle or decorative shelf!

Here are some of my favourite Etsy picks of Halloween Garlands:

Paper Bats

Paper bats are really fun to make and decorate the ENTIRE house with! You can either buy them off Amazon, any dollar store and/or you can even make it yourself! I made mines the last few years. Just beware, it is really time-consuming but worth it to me! I make them while watching a spooky movie!

Here are some of my favourite Amazon picks of paper bats:

Framed Art

This has probably got to be the most modern way to decor your home for the holidays ever! I am a huge fan of wall art and swap mine out very often. I love how just like the pin below, you could use spooky words or phrases to hang up and it looks super chic but also still gets you into the Halloween spirit!

Here are some of my favourite Etsy picks of Modern Halloween Wall Art:

Skulls & Skeletons

Aside from pumpkins, skulls and skeletons have to be one of the most Halloween-themed decor! They are so cool to place in bookshelves, entryway tables, bar carts, and centrepieces! You could either just do black or white skulls or do full skeletons! The picture below has a dog skeleton which looks fab!

Here are some of my favourite Etsy picks of neat Skulls and Skeletons:

Lanterns

Lanterns are awesome to set the mood for Fall and having them out for Halloween on your porch is gorgeous! Place really thick LED or real wick candles outside and turn them on nightly. Having multiple sizes of lanterns is great for adding dimension to your home decor!

Here are some of my favourite Amazon picks of Lanterns:

Wreaths

Wreaths are gorgeous places to hang in front of your door all year round. Fall-inspired wreaths are beautiful and adding a Halloween touch makes it the coolest! To a regular wreath, you can add skulls, bats, pumpkins or ghosts figures!

Here are some of my favourite Etsy picks of Halloween/Fall Wreaths:

Pumpkins

Pumpkins are the ULTIMATE home decor! I have been opting out for white pumpkins lately as they are so cute but there are green, grey and yellow ones you can purchase as well. When you’re switching out your decor, you can roast the pumpkin seeds and see the pumpkin chunks in a delicious pasta sauce!

Here are some of my favourite Etsy and Amazon picks of Halloween/Fall Pumpkins:

Nude & Pink Colours

Nude/Pink Halloween decor is trending more and more these days! I like beiges and whites in my home but pink accents look amazing too! You could spray paint your artificial pumpkins pink and have pink wall art too!

Here are some of my favourite Etsy and Amazon picks of Pink Halloween/Fall Decor:

Candle Stick Holder

Candlesticks definitely give out more of a dreary and fall vibe than any other form of candle! Have you ever notice dreary movie scenes where candlesticks are set? It’s perfect for when you’re hosting guests and you want to set the mood too!

Here are some of my favourite Amazon picks of Candle Stick Holders:

Cushion Cover

I always say this and I’m going to keep saying it! Cushion covers are one of the easier ways to get yourself into the Halloween spirit! They are so easy to switch out and require minimal to no effort! You can acquire a handful of seasonal ones and switch them out whenever you please. You can just throw them in the laundry once you’re done and store them away again til next spooky season.

Here are some of my favourite Etsy and Amazon picks of Halloween Cushion Covers:

Cobwebs & Spiders

Cobwebs are the oldest trick in the book to give you the creeps! Spiders are little crawly’s that you definitely do not want near you or your face! You could decorate your mantle, shelves, windows or entryways with cobwebs and spiders!

Here are some of my favourite Etsy and Amazon picks of spiders and cobwebs:

Signs

Now, this is what I’m talking about! This is technically framed wall art but these are the cutest signs ever! The pin below is more of my decor style and I adore it. Signs are also great with very minimal effort. You could just swap out your signs every season and they look awesome and very modern.

Here are some of my favourite Etsy picks of modern Halloween signs:

Painted Vases

I love love love vases and think they elevate a home so well! I have tons of vases I put around the house and like to swap out! To make your vases at home really eerie, you could spray them the colour of your choosing or paint them! To have the effect in the photo below, you could make the drippings with a hot glue gun before spray painting! If you haven’t seen my best vases and jars posts, click here!

Here are some of my favourite Amazon picks of vases and jars:

Leaf less Trees/Branches

Although in September/October, we’re all about gorgeous colourful leaves, eventually later in the Fall and Winter, all the leaves fall out and they have an eerie autumn vibe to them! Add in some string lights or bats like the photo below!

Here are some of my favourite Amazon picks of Twig Trees:

I cannot tell you how excited I am for Halloween and have already been planning my decorations! I’m honestly doing a little bit of everything from this list and decorating most of my house.

I’m just unsure of the colours yet! I love modern and neutral coloured decor but I also want to incorporate a little bit of the regular Halloween colours! I might just do pops of orange, green, purple and black throughout my house!

I’m throwing both a Thanksgiving and Halloween party combined and am just so happy even just thinking about it!

I hope you enjoyed this post on 15 Modern Halloween Home Decor Ideas!

Lynn
