Fall always feels like a new beginning. It’s the beginning of school and work for lots of people, the beginning of cooler weather and the beginning of the holiday season!

There are a lot of fun things that happen during fall! There’s Thanksgiving, Halloween, Christmas and New Year’s Eve for me and many other traditional and cultural holidays for others.

Fall for me involves a lot of family time and lots of decor opportunities! I definitely find that after the holidays, I just use my normal decor and don’t really do much decorating til after Summer. My decor is all about bright whites, creams and beiges. I love how open a room looks with brighter decor!

Do you decorate every season or mostly just for the holiday season? Let me know below!

7 Fall Mantel Decor Must-Haves - Pin 1

I currently rent my 3 bedroom townhouse with my husband so not everything is in my control when it comes to the overall home. I have worked on our home to decorate as I want to but I can’t wait to be able to do whatever I want in the future!

The main thing about decorating your home with a rental is that you want to be able to move decor around and not damage the walls, floors and/or ceilings. With that being said, most of my blog has the exact mindset of just that and I find myself picking decor suited for my rental home.

Pinterest is always my source of inspiration and I scroll through the app multiple times a day! I love doing DIY projects and being budget-friendly so I am often buying bits and pieces from Dollar Tree, Amazon, Michaels, Homesense and Thrift/Second Hand Shops.

The great thing about decor is that you can switch it out as well and sell it to get a little bit of money back and not waste it! I focus on intentional purchasing so I usually start off with something that I really want then add onto it for a few weeks/month until I’m fully finished decorating my home.

What are your favourite home decor pieces? Do you have any Fall Mantel decor must-haves? I’d love to know in the comments!

HERE ARE 7 FALL MANTEL DECOR MUST-HAVES:

Greenery & Garlands

Although Fall is all about the beautiful changing colours of leaves, depending on how you decorate your home, especially if you keep to modern and neutral decor, you can incorporate greenery. I always have some form of greenery throughout my home as I love having a natural aspect so it’s a must!

Garlands no matter what colour is a gorgeous addition to have hanging on the mantel and on the staircase too.

Here are some of my favourite picks of Greenery & Garlands for Fall:

Candlestick Holders

I probably sound like a broken record at this point but candles embody coziness. There’s not a day that goes by in the Fall/Winter where I don’t light up a gorgeous Fall candle. Aside from the smell, candlesticks are gorgeous to use as home decor as well as the holders that hold them up! An assortment of candlestick holders in different sizes go so well on a Fall decorated mantel!

Tall candlestick holders gives your mantel decor dimension and a variety of texture too! It is also perfect for Thanksgiving Centrepieces or shelf decor.

Here are some of my favourite picks of Candlestick Holder for Fall:

Pumpkins

It certainly is not Fall decor without an assortment of pumpkins! I am obsessed with pumpkins and I honestly have at least one out all year round. After all, it is my favourite season and my birthday/wedding anniversary date too! Might be a little obvious but I do prefer decorative pumpkins as they ultimately last forever and are interchangeable too whereas fresh pumpkins only last a week or two at most.

Pumpkins are probably my biggest weakness and I tend to pick one up every time I see something I like! Chances are by the time you read this, I’ve picked up 3 more.

Here are some of my favourite picks of Pumpkin Decorations for Fall:

Vases

If you’ve been a reader of the blog for a while now, you know how much I vouch for and adore vases. I love how vases add dimension to a room and can be used in multiple different ways. You can leave it empty, fill it with fresh flowers or fill it with dried stems.

There are so many different vases out there with lots of different designs and textures to suit anyone’s home decor style.

Here are some of my favourite picks of Vases for Fall:

Books

I admit, I actually do not read books at all. I have a bad attention span and often prefer reading short articles and posts instead. I used to be able to read for hours at a time and be so into my book I would forget to do other things. I do on the other hand love the look of books on shelves. To me, books are a cozy escape and a must for Fall.

I’m not certain how long ago this trend has been going but decorative books have been increasingly popular within the last few years. I actually wrote a post on 3 Affordable Shelf Styling Tips where I highlighted repurposing old books to be home decor!

The key to doing this is to find neutral-coloured book covers. Naturally, the older books look gorgeous so you can find older books for sale sometimes at your local library or even different thrift shops. As people knew there was a market for this, you can alternatively just pack a package of different books from Etsy.

You can either lie the books down and stack them up or you can leave them standing up on a shelf or the mantel.

Here are some of my favourite picks of Decorative Books for Fall:

Signs & Frames

I LOVE WALL ART. I really really do. I create my own printables for every season and have bought frames just switch them out. I am always in awe of the gorgeous artwork that’s out there and inspired by Fall.

You could get an assortment of signs from local artists and sellers off of Etsy in either a digital or physical product. You can also find wood signs online again from Etsy or Amazon, Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Joann or Target!

And as always, you can DIY your own signs yourself by gathering some design ideas from Pinterest and buying the materials online or from a craft store.

Here are some of my favourite picks of Signs and Frames for Fall:

Lanterns

Finally, lanterns! After Summer, every day gets darker until Spring the next year so having a lantern to light up or even just to decorate is a must for Fall!

I had a Fall wedding and probably had close to 50 lanterns that decorated my reception space! You can fill the lanterns with LED candles or real wax ones.

I bought all of my lanterns from IKEA and from Amazon but you can find some from literally every home decor store out there!

Here are some of my favourite picks of Lanterns for Fall:

I loved writing this post and I can’t wait to share what my Fall Home Decor looks like! In Canada, Thanksgiving is in October on the second Monday and I usually decorate for Fall and have never really done Halloween. This year, I wanted to try and have fun decorating for Halloween first so my house is filled with spooky, cute and modern Halloween decor!

I haven’t fully fully decided if on November 1st I’m doing Christmas immediately or will wait and do Fall for a bit! What do you guys think I should do after Halloween? Straight to Christmas decor or Fall for 2 weeks?

I’d also love to know what Fall Mantel Decor Must-Haves you’ve got on your list!

I hope you enjoyed this post on 7 Fall Mantel Decor Must-Haves!

These are great fall decor recommendations! I love the idea of pumpkins and pumpkins and more pumpkins! But I know that’s not everyone’s cup of tea. I think adding more variety like frames, vases and books really get that feeling of home and cozy. I can’t wait to start decorating! We usually don’t start until after September.
