Lots of people have been feeling like groceries are steadily increasing and after a long day of work, it’s so nice to be able to put something together fast and at a low cost. Chili cheese dogs are one of my fav meals to put together when I just crave something quick, easy, and hearty.

I generally love taking this camping but for under $10 and leftovers for a day or two, you can’t go wrong making these for simple lunches and dinners for the family!

HERE IS HOW TO MAKE CHILI CHEESE DOGS:

WHERE CAN I FIND THESE INGREDIENTS?

The ingredients to make these deliciously quick and easy chili cheese dogs can be found in most grocery stores. This recipe is only 4 ingredients which is awesome! You can find hot dogs in your meat and/or deli aisle, some cheese in your dairy aisle, canned chili in your pantry or dry goods aisles, and of course, some hot dog buns in your bakery section!

WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS?

The ingredients to make this recipe are:

  • Hot Dogs – I love using pure beef hot dogs but you can use any you prefer
  • Canned Chili – I generally just get whatever is on sale but love the Tim Hortons one
  • Shredded Cheese – Love using tex mex or just mozza/cheddar mix
  • Hot Dog Buns – If you can snag your hands on fresh baked ones, 1000x worth it

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?

You can easily do this in the air fryer but I like to pop them in the oven for about 20 mins or until the cheese is golden brown. All you really need is a baking pan or an air fryer if that’s what you choose to use!

CAN I SUBSTITUTE/ADD ANYTHING OUT?

You can absolutely substitute or add anything to this recipe! I like to keep things as simple as I possibly can on my blog and give people room to use their imagination and creativity in the recipe.

I usually do the recipe exactly as it is and add some chips and a side salad to complete the meal. You can substitute regular hot dog buns for brioche buns, beef dogs or other meat hot dogs, or even a veggie or vegan dog, use veggie or vegan chili, and of course use whatever favorite melty cheese you’d like!

If you want to add items, you can add some bacon crumbles, sauteed veggies, sour cream, and any fresh garnishes you’d like!

WHAT DO CHILI CHEESE DOGS TASTE LIKE?

These chili cheese dogs taste exactly what it sounds like! Standard, simple, and delicious hot dogs with hearty chili topped with melted, creamy cheese. It really doesn’t get any more straightforward than this and is a great go-to whenever you’re looking to save a few bucks on the grocery bill or just want a hot dog bulked up!

HOW LONG DOES IT KEEP FOR?

The hot dogs keep for up to 3 days. I recommend storing your leftovers in an airtight container and heating it on low heat in the air fryer for 10 minutes to keep the bun a little bit crispy. If you are only able to heat it in the microwave, the bun may be soft but it is still just as good! You may want to bring a fork and knife in case things get messy and you don’t work from home.

INSPIRATIONS FOR THIS RECIPE?

Inspirations for this recipe come from camping! Generally, if my husband and I are camping alone without our family, we like to just bring hot dogs to keep things simple. I love making chili cheese dogs to bulk it up and they are just the perfect campfire food.

While doing groceries, I kept thinking about how everything was just getting super expensive and to save money, sometimes, you just need to have simple meals like this one for your meal prep for the week!

Chili Cheese Dogs

These chili cheese dogs are the perfect easy weeknight meal. Just 4 ingredients and a few minutes to prepare, this easy recipe is sure to satisfy your budget and have a simple dinner in front of you ASAP!

Ingredients
  

  • 6 Hot Dogs
  • 6 Hot Dog Buns
  • 1 Can Chili
  • 1/2 Cup Shredded Cheese

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 400F and prepare a baking dish. OPTIONAL: lined with aluminum foil for easy clean up
  • Insert a hot dog in each hot dog bun and line them up in your baking dish.
  • Spread a good amount of chili onto the top of each hot dog.
  • Generously, add shredded cheese on the top of each hot dog.
  • Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and golden brown.
  • Serve and enjoy!

INGREDIENTS
* 100 g Lean Ground Beef cooked however you’d like
* 120 g Black Beans cooked however you’d like 
* 150 g Raw Coleslaw Mix 
* 1-2 tbsp Buffalo Sauce

INSTRUCTIONS
* In a small bowl, heat up your ground beef and black beans for 45 seconds in the microwave.
* In a large bowl, add in your raw coleslaw mix then top your ground beef and black beans on top.
* Drizzle the bowl with your buffalo sauce, eat and enjoy!‹

INGREDIENTS
* 1/4 Cup Chickpeas (dehydrated then rehydrated for 24 hours or canned)
* 1-3 Tbsp Furikake Seasoning put as much as you’d like! I put extra on mine <3
* 1 Tbsp Avocado Oil or any oil you prefer!

INSTRUCTIONS
* In a bowl, add in your chickpeas and oil. Mix well together so that every chickpea is coated in oil.
* Add your chickpeas in a single layer in your air fryer. Air fry at 400F for about 10-15 minutes depending on your preferred level of crunch!
* Pour chickpeas into a bowl and add in your furikake seasoning to toss in.
