I have no idea if this is an unpopular opinion, but I fear that a Thanksgiving Turkey dinner without cranberry sauce does not hit. Maybe I’m just a huge fan of cranberries, but when you have 3 different carbs on your plate, a juicy serving of turkey and some savoury veggies, the cranberry sauce is what makes the meal pop! For me, it enhances the flavour of the meal so you don’t get sick of it! It’s a good balance between all the flavours.
This cranberry apple cinnamon sauce is so easy! It’ll be your go-to cranberry sauce for holiday meals every year!

HERE IS HOW TO MAKE CRANBERRY APPLE CINNAMON SAUCE:
WHERE CAN I FIND THESE INGREDIENTS?
Fresh cranberries are seasonal for the most part, but I do believe you can also get them frozen at some grocery stores. Aside from that, you’ll need an apple of your choice, I love ambrosia apples, a cinnamon stick, granulated sugar and water! All of these ingredients should be found in most grocery stores.
WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS?
The ingredients to make this delicious cranberry apple cinnamon sauce are:
- Fresh Cranberries
- Granulated Sugar
- Sweet Apple – of your choice!
- Cinnamon Stick
- Navel Orange
- Water
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?
You don’t need anything special for this recipe. All you’ll need is a small sauce pot, kitchen utensils, cutting boards, a knife and measuring cups/spoons. You don’t need to cut the cranberries but you do need to dice up the apple!
Here are some of my Amazon kitchen favs:
CAN I SUBSTITUTE/ADD ANYTHING OUT?
This recipe is super simple so you can do many things to spruce it up! Here are some ideas that you can do:
- Adding some orange or yellow zest
- Use brown sugar instead of white sugar
- Adding some maple syrup
- Adding some honey
- Adding more fall spices like cloves, anise, and cardamom
WHAT DOES CRANBERRY APPLE CINNAMON SAUCE TASTE LIKE?
It’s the perfect balance of tart and sweet! The cranberries bring a bright, tangy pop, while the apples add natural sweetness and a soft, jammy texture. The cinnamon ties it all together with a warm, cozy spice that makes it taste like a mix between apple pie filling and classic cranberry sauce. It’s festive, comforting, and just the right blend of sweet, tart, and spiced goodness.
My favourite way to eat it is with my turkey dinner or on fresh toast with salted butter!
HOW LONG DOES IT KEEP FOR?
Since this is almost like a fruit jam, it keeps for a long time. I recommend making small batches so it’s fresh, but this cranberry apple cinnamon sauce lasts for up to 1 month in the fridge in an airtight container. You can also store it in the freezer for up to 2 months if you plan on making a really large batch!
INSPIRATIONS FOR THIS RECIPE?
I’m not going not going to lie, I’m a huge fan of the canned cranberry sauce haha, and often look for it, but every couple of years, I try making a fresh cranberry sauce! A couple of years back, I made a super simple cranberry sauce with brown sugar and cranberries, but this year I wanted to experiment a little bit, and it’s safe to say that I’ll be switching to real and fresh cranberry sauce every year moving forward!
ANY OTHER NOTES?
If you want a more tart sauce, you can just use 2 tablespoons of sugar. If you want the perfect balance between tart and sweet, use 3 tablespoons of sugar. If you want a sweeter sauce, you can use 4 tablespoons of sugar.
