Who else is obsessed with sweet corn?! 🙋♀️ I turned my corn obsession into a corn costume and I love it! You are what you eat seems to be the theme here! This DIY costume was so easy to make and so budget friendly! I was able to use an old green dress, thin black headband and black heels and got my yellow pom poms and fabric sheets from the craft store. Perfect fun costume to make as something last minute OR if you’re wanting to dress up for random themes at work, school or a party!

HERE IS HOW TO MAKE A DIY CORN COSTUME:
WHERE CAN YOU FIND THE MATERIALS TO MAKE THIS DIY CORN COSTUME?
These materials were not hard to find at all! I used a green dress, thin headband and black heels that I already have and just bought some yellow and green felt sheets and yellow pom poms from Michael’s craft store. Aside from that, you’ll just need some fabric tape and a hot glue gun to put everything together.
WHAT ARE THE MATERIALS/EQUIPMENT NEEDED FOR THIS DIY CORN COSTUME?
The materials needed to create this super easy corn costume are:
- Green top/dress
- Black bottoms (if using a top)
- Black shoes
- Green Felt Sheets
- Yellow Felt Sheets
- Yellow Pom Poms
- Hot Glue Gun
- Fabric Tape
- Fabric Scissors (optional)

CAN I SUBSTITUTE ANY MATERIALS OUT?
I am such a creative person and ALWAYS encourage creativity! If you want to use any other materials for this DIY, do it! I love using fabric tape and felt fabric sheets because I like to reuse my clothes and fabric tape is so easy to remove! I will 100% always vouch for using the things that you already have to make this costume as attainable and budget friendly as possible!
DOES THE COSTUME LAST TO USE FOR THE FOLLOWING YEARS?
Yes! This costume is great to keep as is if you’d like to reuse it! Fabric tape is so sturdy so you can leave the corn nibblets as is, but if you want to tape them fresh every year, so you can wear your dress for other occasions, you can simply store the felt pieces and headband in a separate container and just tape them on fresh every year. Aside from that, just simply hanging it on a hanger in the closet will be fine!
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO PUT TOGETHER?
This costume was one of the faster costumes to put together! The cutting always takes the longest when doing DIY costumes but luckily for this corn costume, the pieces are super intricate so they were very easy to cut! From start to finish, this costume took me about an hour! I had to cut the corn nibblets and green corn peel and glue it on and and glue on the yellow pom poms onto the thin headband.
INSPIRATIONS FOR THIS COSTUME?
I love making DIY costumes on this blog! It’s one of my favourite things to d,o so I was thinking of easy and affordable ways so that everyone can join and make costumes! Growing up, costumes from the pop-up Halloween stores like Spirit Halloween were just too expensive. My parents are immigrant parents, so we didn’t have $70 to spend on one-time use costumes. That’s where my love of DIY started! I started just finding what I can use and putting it together! I love creating cute DIY costumes and can’t wait to do this for my children one day!
Here are some of the costume elements you can buy online!
STEPS TO PUT TOGETHER THIS DIY CORN COSTUME:
Step 1: Cut out corn nibblets from the yellow felt sheets.
I used a mason jar lid for sizing, but you can cut the circles to whatever size best fits you!
Step 2: Cut out the corn peel from the green felt sheets.
I just eyeballed this but I just made sure that it was long enough to fold over a little bit! You can decide what size would best fit on your outfit!
Step 3: Lay your green dress or shirt out and tape on your corn nibblet and peel.
You can honestly place this wherever you want, but I liked putting it on my chest! It was the easiest, and it made the rest of the green dress on me look like the peel of the corn.
Step 4: Glue the yellow pom poms onto your headband.
Depending on the size of your pom poms, you’ll just want to hot glue as many pom poms as you want. I was able to fit 7 pom poms onto my headband!
Step 5: Put the whole outfit together and enjoy!
Put on your dress, heels, headband and enjoy the costume!! I just know you look super cute!!
