HERE IS HOW TO MAKE A DIY SPAGHETTI AND MEATBALLS COSTUME:

WHERE CAN YOU FIND THE MATERIALS TO MAKE THIS DIY SPAGHETTI AND MEATBALLS COSTUME?

Most of these supplies can be found at your local dollar store, craft store, or even around your home.

You can find fabric tape, yarn and pom-poms at craft stores such as Michaels, dollar store or Amazon. I got my yarn at Michaels and my brown pom-poms and fabric tape from Amazon. Aluminum foil, tape, and scissors are common household supplies, while the red dress or top and black shoes can be pieces you already have in your closet.

This makes the costume especially budget-friendly since you don’t need to purchase an entire outfit.

WHAT ARE THE MATERIALS NEEDED FOR THIS DIY SPAGHETTI AND MEATBALLS COSTUME?

Here’s what you’ll need to make your DIY Spaghetti And Meatballs Costume:

Thin light beige yarn
Brown pom-poms
Aluminum foil
Tape
Scissors
Fabric tape
Red dress or red top
Black shoes

The red dress or top represents the tomato sauce, the beige yarn becomes the spaghetti, and the brown pom-poms are your meatballs!

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?

You don’t need any special equipment for this costume. You’ll just need:

Scissors
Tape
Fabric tape

That’s it! This is a very beginner-friendly DIY and doesn’t require sewing, a hot glue gun, or any complicated crafting tools.

CAN I SUBSTITUTE ANY MATERIALS OUT?

Yes! There are lots of ways to make this costume with materials you already have.

Instead of thin beige yarn, you can use thicker yarn, cream-colored yarn, ribbon, or even strips of fabric. Just look for something that resembles long strands of spaghetti.

For the brown pom-poms, you could use brown felt balls, lightweight foam balls painted brown, or crumpled brown kraft paper.

If you don’t have a red dress, you can use a red shirt, sweater, skirt, or pants as the base of the costume. You could even wear a red outfit underneath and attach the spaghetti directly to it. You can totally get creative with this!

DOES THE COSTUME LAST TO USE FOR THE FOLLOWING YEARS?

Yes! Since most of the materials are durable and inexpensive, you can easily save this costume and wear it again for future Halloweens.

I recommend carefully removing the yarn and decorations from your clothing after Halloween and storing them in a box or bag. Keep the yarn loosely coiled so it doesn’t become tangled. You can always retape it anytime OR if you want to keep it in tact, you can use super glue or hot glue instead of tape. That’ll ensure everything sticks and doesn’t fall off!

You can also reuse the yarn and pom-poms for other craft projects if you decide to create a different costume next year.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO PUT TOGETHER?

This costume takes approximately 1-2 hours to put together, depending on how much spaghetti you want to add. I’d say placing the spaghetti strands is the most tedious part of this whole process! Since they are individual strands, you have to tape each one so it looks like a messy plate of spaghetti!

Once you have the yarn prepared, attaching the meatballs and finishing the costume is quick and easy. The giant aluminum fork is quite easy as well since you can form the aluminum into any shape you’d like.

The inspiration for this costume came from one of the ultimate comfort food combinations: spaghetti and meatballs! 🍝

I wanted to create a Halloween costume that was recognizable, funny, inexpensive, and easy enough for anyone to recreate.

I also love food-inspired Halloween costumes because they’re a fun way to get creative without needing to buy an expensive costume. The red outfit makes the perfect base for the tomato sauce, while the yarn and pom-poms transform it into a plate of spaghetti and meatballs.

It’s also a great costume idea for couples, families, or groups. One person could dress as spaghetti and meatballs while another dresses as garlic bread, Parmesan cheese, or even a chef!

STEPS TO PUT TOGETHER THIS DIY SPAGHETTI AND MEATBALLS COSTUME:

1. CHOOSE YOUR OUTFIT

Start with a red dress or top that you’re comfortable wearing. The red represents the tomato sauce and gives you the perfect base for the costume. Pair it with black shoes to complete the outfit but any pair of shoes work!

2. CUT THE SPAGHETTI

Take your light beige yarn and cut multiple pieces into different lengths. You don’t have to make every strand exactly the same—the variation will help make it look more like a pile of spaghetti. Cut enough pieces to create a full spaghetti effect. I didn’t specifically count my strands but I probably had closr to 80 strands!

3. CREATE THE SPAGHETTI

Gather the yarn strands together and loosely arrange them so they look like spaghetti noodles. You can twist and overlap some of the strands to create a messy, piled-up look and also have all of the yarn hanging straight.

4. ATTACH THE SPAGHETTI

Use fabric tape to carefully attach the yarn to your red dress or top. Start with a few pieces at a time and build up the spaghetti until you’re happy with how full it looks.

5. ADD THE MEATBALLS

Take your brown pom-poms and place them throughout the yarn spaghetti. Secure them using fabric tape or another temporary method that won’t damage your clothing. Try spacing them out naturally so it looks like meatballs sitting on top of a big plate of spaghetti.

6. MAKE THE FORK

I totally just winged this, but make a giant fork with aluminum foil! I just made 4 prongs for the pointed ends of the fork and a base and taped everything together! If you need it to hold really well, you can use hot glue for it to be more secure!
