HERE IS HOW TO MAKE SPICY ASIAN CUCUMBER SALAD:

WHERE CAN I FIND THESE INGREDIENTS?

To make the easy spicy Asian cucumber salad, you can find the ingredients at various places, including:

  1. Grocery Stores: Your local grocery store is likely to have all the ingredients you need. Head to the produce section to find fresh cucumbers and green onions. You can also find rice vinegar, sesame oil, soy sauce, and chili flakes in the Asian foods aisle.
  2. Farmers’ Markets: For the freshest cucumbers and green onions, consider visiting a local farmers’ market. They often have a variety of seasonal produce, and you can directly interact with the vendors to ensure the quality of the ingredients.
  3. Asian Markets: If you prefer a specialized selection of Asian ingredients or want to explore a wider range of Asian spices and sauces, an Asian market is a great option. These markets often have a dedicated section for Asian produce and condiments.
  4. Online Retailers: If you have difficulty finding specific ingredients locally or prefer the convenience of online shopping, you can explore online grocery retailers. Many of them offer a wide selection of fresh produce and international ingredients, including those required for the spicy Asian cucumber salad.

Remember to check the labels for the quality and authenticity of the Asian ingredients you purchase. With a little ingredient sourcing, you’ll be ready to create a mouthwatering easy spicy Asian cucumber salad right in your own kitchen. Enjoy the bold and refreshing flavors of this delightful salad!

WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS?

The ingredients to make this Spicy Asian Cucumber Salad are:

  • Cucumbers
  • Fresh Garlic
  • Sesame Oil
  • Rice Vinegar
  • Soy Sauce
  • Chilli Oil
  • Sesame Seeds

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?

You don’t need much for this recipe! You can use what you already have. I highly recommend using glass containers so you can store and keep them in the fridge but it’s totally up to you. These are my favourite glass containers to store food in:

CAN I SUBSTITUTE/ADD ANYTHING OUT?

You sure can add or substitute anything you’d like to this salad recipe! Crunchy and harder vegetables are good for this recipe such as diced tomatoes (without the seeds), bell peppers, jalapenos, carrots, edamame beans, raw cabbage and so much more.

You can also add in some protein like chicken or tofu to bulk it up as well or even some nuts for more crunch. If you make this as a salad, another great addition would be to top it off with some wonton chips! YUM!

You can also omit the chilli oil if you prefer the sauce to be not spicy but it is so dang good with a bit of a kick! The sesame oil is really the star of the show and what makes this dish so delicious.

WHAT DOES SPICY ASIAN CUCUMBER SALAD TASTE LIKE?

Spicy Asian Cucumber Salad offers a delightful combination of flavors that is both tangy and spicy. Here’s what you can expect from its taste:

  1. Refreshing: The salad has a refreshing taste due to the crispness of the cucumbers. They provide a cool and hydrating element to balance out the spiciness.
  2. Tangy: The dressing, typically made with rice vinegar, lends a tangy and slightly acidic note to the salad. It adds a zesty kick that complements the other flavors.
  3. Spicy: As the name suggests, this salad is spicy. The spiciness comes from the use of chili flakes or other Asian spices, which provide a pleasant heat that can vary depending on personal preference.
  4. Umami: The addition of soy sauce and sometimes sesame oil contributes a savory umami flavor that enhances the overall taste profile.

The combination of these flavors creates a vibrant and mouthwatering salad that is both bold and refreshing. It’s a fantastic side dish to complement Asian-inspired meals or as a standalone appetizer. Whether you enjoy it on a hot summer day or as part of a well-rounded meal, the Spicy Asian Cucumber Salad is sure to delight your taste buds with its exciting mix of tastes and textures.

HOW LONG DOES IT KEEP FOR?

If you make a bigger batch of this spicy Asian cucumber salad, I recommend keeping this in the fridge for no longer than 2 days. I find that within 2 days, the cucumber is still really crunchy and keeps its shape but after that, the cucumber starts to pull out more moisture and become not as crunchy. Be sure to store it in an airtight container!

INSPIRATIONS FOR THIS RECIPE?

The inspiration for this recipe comes from All You Can Eat Japanese Restaurants! My husband and I love treating ourselves to a sushi/Japanese food buffet and I found that cucumber salads are getting more popular there! I always order this and love it every time! It is an extremely refreshing and crunch-satisfying meal.

I also saw on social media, though I have not tried it yet that Din Tai Fung is a popular dim sum restaurant chain in the USA that makes a cucumber salad that everyone loves so I’ve been seeing lots of variations of cucumber salad recipes online!

ANY OTHER NOTES?

No other notes for this one! Enjoy!
