Everyone gets super busy for Christmas that New Year’s Eve tends to get forgotten! I know that I’m totally guilty of doing nothing for New Year’s for the last 5 years or so. When I was younger, my mom’s church used to be on a New Year’s Eve party in the church basement and it was so fun!

There were lots of dancing and food and music all night long that would go until 2-3 am. I remember they would do a net full of balloons and confetti that would fall down at midnight in the middle of the dance floor! It was so magical and fun! As everyone got older, we stopped going to parties and everyone just spent New Year’s Eve with their immediate family and we all facetime at midnight!

This year, I’m not sure what I’ll be doing but I would love to have a small get together for New Year’s Eve! I might just be using it as an excuse though because I want to make every single thing in this list of 10 Fun Homemade New Years’ Eve Decoration Ideas!

Are you planning on hosting or attending a New Year’s Eve party this year? Tell me your plans below!

10 Fun Homemade New Year's Eve Decoration Ideas - Pin 1

I generally keep my house as neutral as possible which is probably why I love New Year’s decor! I find that most decor is white, black, gold, rose gold and very sparkly which is what I like! My husband despises the glitter but he married a walking glitter factory so…. he’s gotta deal with it haha!

New Year’s Eve for me is generally a lot of work as I follow my mom’s traditions which is to have the house sparkly clean, have 12 fruits and 12 dishes on the table, hang up some grapes in all the doorways, prepare a full cup of sugar, water, rice and money on the table and so many other things!

I love keeping up the traditions as it just gives everyone something fun to look forward to for the end of the year! End of the year for a lot of people is always bittersweet as it’s a another year of getting older and just generally another year passed but also amazing to have another beautiful fresh start!

I definitely tear up and get emotional at the end of the year because I’m the type of person who is absolutely in love with life and feels like its going by way too fast!

Do you love the fresh start or do you get a little emotional like I do when it comes to thinking about the incoming New Year?

A Year in Photos String Fairy Lights

This idea randomly popped into my head but a really cute decor idea would be to hang a year of your best memories into string lights and although this isn’t only for New Year’s Eve, you can keep this all year but its a super sweet reminder of everything that happened this year and all the fun and good times you had! For this DIy, you’ll need some fairy string lights, small/mini clothepsins and your favourite small square photos which you can print at your local print shop or just print at home on the printer 🙂
