This post is all about 3 Wedding Planning Things I Absolutely Miss | AD

It’s been 2 years since my wedding in 2019 and it’s been magical being married to my best friend and soulmate.

As a little girl, I dreamed of a gorgeous wedding and although it was nothing like I envisioned it, it was perfect for me and my husband. We have been dating for 6 years (high school sweethearts) and were engaged for 6 months before we had our wedding!

People thought I was crazy for trying to plan a wedding in 6 months but I had this strong intuition and feeling that September 2019 was the date for us so I pushed for it and given the events of 2020, looking back I’m so glad I did!

We had a two-day wedding and of course, had two different outfits and venues. The first day was an intimate ceremony with just my closest family and friends and we had a wonderful time and a long photoshoot around the city.

The next day was the reception where everyone and their mom were invited and we partied till the next morning! Both were days to remember but had lots of hiccups. 2 years later, I miss wedding planning and would love to do it all over again. I’m nudging my husband for a vow renewal every 5 years haha

Any excuse for a party! Wish me luck!

Here are 3 Wedding Planning Things I Absolutely Miss:

Wedding Dress & Shoe Shopping

Out of the whole wedding, I definitely spent the most time picking out my dress and shoes. I had a Fall wedding so I wanted to have a dress with sleeves and one without and obviously 2 pairs of gorgeous shoes to go with it!

Up2step has the most beautiful selection of shoes that’ll make any woman fall in love! They are on point with trendy shoes as well as being affordable and having timeless pieces. There really is a shoe for everyone! From everyday casual to your wedding shoes, don’t be surprised when you’ve got a full cart sooner than later!

If you’ve been a fan of the blog, you’d know that my style for myself and my home is very neutral and simple and I love that no matter what the theme of your wedding is, you’ll be able to find the perfect white heels for your perfect day.

Aside from white stilettos, you can also match your wedding dress with silver glitter heels or a shorter pair of heels like kitten-heel wedding shoes! I used beautiful white heels for the ceremony then used kitten heels for my after-party reception so I could dance the night away!

Lots of time with Friends and Family

This is more of a selfish point but I absolutely adored that my family and friends spent so much time with me in the months/weeks leading up to the wedding. I had my bridesmaids at my house every week DIYing my invites, learning a dance we performed, making giveaways, got lots of take out and just hung out/spent time with each other.

I had lots of family come from all over the world and spend the week with us. It was such a nice end to 2019. We were just so filled with love and light during our engagement. I truly miss it and have been nagging someone new in the family to get married!!

Savour every single moment you get with your loved ones because your wedding is most likely one of the only times where everyone you love and care for near and far are in the same room together!

Catering menu and Cake Tasting

Last but not least, catering menu and cake tasting! Food, cake and drinks were not something we cheaped out on for our wedding. We went all out and I loved every minute of planning what my lovely guests were going to be enjoying at our wedding!

I got so many messages about my caterers and my overall wedding afterwards so I was happy to provide some recommendations! We ate at a lot of restaurants too before deciding what food we’re serving our guests and we got mini cupcakes to test out all the cake flavours. I had like 20 mini cupcakes in one sitting haha.

Our wedding planning was such a quick process and I miss it so much! I can’t wait to be a bridesmaid for one of my girlfriends or cousins soon so I could (kinda) re-live it with them and treat them like queens!

I hope you enjoyed reading 3 Wedding Planning Things I Miss and here’s to my husband agreeing to vow renewal parties every 5 years!

If you’re married, what are some things you miss about wedding planning? If you’re not, what are some things you’re looking forward to doing for your wedding? Let me know in the comments!

Lynn

I cobbled together my wedding in less than two weeks years ago, so there really wasn’t a lot of planning that went into it. We didn’t have any money, so I catered it myself, and people raved about the recipes for years – even after I was divorced!
I have a few things planned for my next wedding, should God bless me with the right man. For example, my wedding vows are already written, and I plan to have the smallest wedding possible. I want to plan a big party with my husband and family and friends for our tenth anniversary, because then we’ll really have something to celebrate.!

Planning a wedding sounds sooooo much fun. Hmm…. I wonder, will I ever experience all these? I still haven’t met my Mr. Right yet….

Plan my wedding if you want? haha! I am not enjoying this process! I got my dress after about 90 minutes and tried on 8 dresses haha.

I have catered at some really lovely weddings over the years and can imagine the planning must be as enjoyable as experiencing the actual day. The shoe site sounds amazing even for me to check out; I would love to find a pair of affordable, low heels or boots that are not too dressy to wear often.

Thanks so much for sharing previous highlights and current loves!

this post came at the perfect time. i just said yes to the dress and my wedding is in may. although i’ve been engaged since may 2021, we just started planning a few months ago so that 6-7 month planning timeline is relatable to me. it has been stressful but doable for sure. next steps are finding my shoes and jewelry.

I miss it too! My absolute favorite was spending time with family and friends. I have often thought about how cool it was that everyone we love was in the same room even if only for a few hours. I would give almost anything to experience that again. Wedding planning was so fun! I agree!

Planning a wedding can be both stress and fun! Glad to know you thoroughly enjoyed the process. The shoes are gorgeous!
