Summer clothing for plus-size women has always been hard to come by. I don’t know about you but I found it so hard to find cute items in larger sizes and I would be stuck shopping with a really unflattering selection.

Luckily, the selection for plus-sized women has now increased and we have lots to choose from! I have been purchasing some cute clothes over the past year and I’ve been really happy with what’s out there for my size! I live in dresses and if I could wear a dress every single day, I totally would which is why I love summer outfits!

I have been plus-sized all my life even as a child which is frustrating because it didn’t mean I was unhealthy. It’s just my metabolism and body shape were different from other people and it’s okay.

My family is super sporty and loves the outdoors so I’ve played lots of sports as a young child to now! I eat fairly healthy and focus on daily movement and nutrients which makes me proud of my body and habits.

It would be super frustrating as a child with lots of people just telling me to eat healthily and lose weight even though I was trying the best I could. It was hard not being able to fit children’s clothing for my age so I’d often be in shapeless and boring clothing.

Fast forward 15 years and I’m so glad that there are many options now and society is more inclusive! We’ve definitely still got a long way to go but I love feeling confident in my appearance and clothing. Look good, feel good is something I follow and it goes such a long way daily which is why I am so excited to write this post on 5 affordable plus-size summer must-haves!

Bohemian Maxi Dresses

Maxi dresses are one of my fav things to wear and are #1 on my affordable plus-size summer must-haves list! You have an option of dressing them up or down which is THE BEST. I’ve often worn maxi dresses to the beach and even to a summer wedding! I love how flowy they are and there are so many different kinds, that everyone is able to find something that suits their body shape.

Bohemian Skirts

Aside from dresses, I’m a huge fan of skirts. I always feel really feminine and free! I don’t nearly have enough skirts as I would like to but I’m changing that soon! I’m a big fan of mini skirts and often wear them in a cute blouse tucked in especially floral ones.

Cheap Plus Size Swimwear

Okay, cheap plus-size swimwear is a big one for my affordable plus-size summer must-haves list. Cute swimwear for plus-size women is super hard to find! I would often shop at Walmart or Target because everything is either expensive or really unflattering. I’m definitely adding a few more swimsuits to my closet this year since my family does a ton of lake days.

Plus Size Silk Pyjamas

You have not lived a good life until you’ve worn silk pyjamas! I bought a few pairs of silk pyjamas and I’ve never turned back. It is the softest and feels amazing on your skin. I’m unstoppable when I’m freshly shaven, in silk pyjamas with a glass of wine in my hand on a Friday night!

Sexy Sports Bra

Having a good supportive sports bra is so important for plus-size women as well and is the best point to conclude my affordable plus-size summer must-haves list! I wouldn’t be able to participate in fun summer activities without it. My family loves volleyball and running around at the park so a good sports bra is a must!

Now that restrictions are lifting for so many places, I’m excited to be able to hang out with friends and family soon. I have so many pieces of clothing I want to show off and I’m still in the midst of adding a few pieces to my closet for summer as well!   3. Loved this post! And totally into the whole “look good, feel good” vibe! I’ve recently gained weight due to the pandemic and my bras don’t even fit anymore, I’m so uncomfortable. So I’ll be purchasing new clothes at a bigger size because if you’re uncomfortable you won’t feel good at all!

  4. Thank you for sharing! I have been plus size my whole life, too, and it has been challenging for a lot of the reasons you listed. Anti-fat bias is so prominent in our society that it makes people automatically equate with weight with health when it is only one part of someone’s overall health. I love the options you listed, especially the silk pajamas! They look so comfortable.

I love long dresses but never feel good enough while wearing them or always too self conscious, but during the last few years I started wearing them more, so it’s nice to find some great options!
