Is one of your New Year’s resolutions to eat healthier? I know mine is! Not solely to lose weight but definitely to consume more nutrients and keep a healthy immune system!

Healthy snacks don’t have to break the bank and have to be too complicated. The most important thing about having healthy snacks is the fact that you can curb your appetite instead of having something bad for you.

6 Easy Affordable Healthy Snacks - Pin 1

I wanted to share some of my favourite healthy snacks. I am a big fan of junk food I’m not going to lie but I’m also a big fan of balance (libra over here)!

Junk food definitely does not fill me up whereas when I have a healthier snack I feel fuller longer. These healthy snacks will sustain you throughout the day and won’t give you a sugar crash.

  • Cucumbers, Cream Cheese and Hot Sauce
  • Homemade Kale Chips
  • Banana “Nice” Cream
  • Mashed Avocado On Top Of A Rice Cracker
  • Boiled Egg With Soy Sauce

HERE are 6 Easy Affordable Healthy Snacks:

Apples and Peanut Butter

My most favourite snack and it’s easy to have everyday! The trick is to heat the peanut butter for like 10 seconds before spreading onto the apple slices.

Cucumbers, Cream Cheese and Hot Sauce

This actually works best if you scoop the cucumber insides out before you put the cream cheese and hot sauce! It holds a lot better. I’ve also seen people put everything but the bagel seasoning instead of hot sauce.

Homemade Kale Chips

Back in March 2020, when everyone was making bread, I was making batches of kale chips. I’m not kidding, I went crazy and tried so many different seasonings. So easy to make at home too!

This is a similar to what I usually make : Kale Chips

Kale Chips

Banana “Nice” Cream

Amazing for ice cream cravings! Frozen bananas in the processor and bam! A delicious guilt-free treat.

Banana "Nice" Cream

Mashed Avocado On Top Of A Rice Cracker

Avocado toast without the toast? So good and I love the crunch of a rice cracker! Simple seasonings like olive oil, salt, pepper is all you need! Add a pinch of chilli flakes for a kick.

Boiled Egg With Soy Sauce

Usually at Asian restaurants they have marinated soft boiled eggs and if you’ve had that, it is so good! I just like to boil my egg, cut it down the middle and put a teaspoon of soy sauce.

Boiled Egg With Soy Sauce

These healthy snacks are so good and I have one of these everyday! Apples with peanut butter is probably my fav snack and reminds me of coming home from school in elementary and watching Sabrina the teenage witch.

Let me know in the comments below what you would try and what’s your fav healthy snack!

Lynn

    Ooh these are some interesting options for healthy snacks! I think cutting up apples to dip in something is a great snack, although I usually go for chocolate spread which obviously defeats the point of a healthy snack, haha! I LOVE doing that cucumber thing and adding some salmon on top too! x

    It’s always a bummer that I have so many food allergies because it prevents me from enjoying most “healthy” snacks. I can do the kale chips and the cucumbers, but aside from that – all the others have foods I’m allergic to. So sad! Buuuut I know my husband would love several of them, so I’ll be passing along the ideas!

    Apples with peanut butter is one of my favorite healthy snacks. So simple yet oh so delicious. I’ve tried kale chips before but found them to taste a bit odd. I would have never thought to add cream cheese and hot sauce to cucumbers, I’m quite intrigued by that and I feel like that is something my husband would really enjoy.

    I love my greens but have always been challenged by kale. Kale crisps, is that a bit like the crispy seaweed you get from your local Chinese takeaway? If so, it’s worth trying.

    • lynnmumbingmejia says

      January 13, 2021 at

      Yes! It really is. If you get it crunchy enough, it’s definitely like seaweed! x

This Spicy Canned Tuna Sushi Bake is creamy, savory, and packed with bold flavor! Made with simple pantry ingredients, it’s an easy, budget-friendly twist on sushi! It is perfect for sharing, scooping with seaweed, and satisfying all your sushi cravings at home.

INGREDIENTS
* 1 Can Tuna drained
* 2 Tbsp Sriracha
* 1/4 Cup Mayo
* 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
* 2 Tbsp Furikake
* 1 Cup White Rice cooked
* 1 tsp Sugar
* 1/2 Tbsp Rice Vinegar
* 1 Packet Seasoned Seaweed

INSTRUCTIONS
* Preheat your oven to 400F and prepare a 6-inch baking pan.
* In a bowl, add in your rice and heat it in the microwave for 1 minute. This is so it’s easier for the sugar and rice vinegar to soak in. Add in your rice vinegar and sugar and mix well.
* Next, add in the rice mixture to your baking pan in an even layer. Sprinkle furikake on top.
* Use the same bowl that you mixed up your rice in and add in your drained canned tuna, sesame oil, sriracha, and mayo and mix well.
* Add the layer of saucy tuna on your rice layer evenly on top. Sprinkle with furikake.
* Bake at 400F for 20-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
* Serve with a side of seasoned seaweed and enjoy!
