Read more for all the details on SpongeBob’s Jellyfish Sandwich.

I’ve been so excited to release this series as I’ve been wanting to talk about it for a while!

Did you grow up watching SpongeBob SquarePants? This takes me back to afterschool cartoons! SpongeBob has a special place in my heart which is only fitting that to kick off this series, I start off by recreating SpongeBob’s Jellyfish Sandwich!

I got this fun idea from a fellow YouTuber Raeven Leigh. I watched her video on Spaghetti Tacos from ICarly and thought it would be so fun to do a bunch of these on the blog and YouTube.

Essentially, this series is an ongoing series on trying food from TV and Movies! I’m going to be doing this segment on the last Wednesday/Thursday of every month.

This isn’t at all how the recipes actually are but more of my interpretation of what I think that food item would taste like! There are recipes on the internet that basically does this all from scratch and other TV and Movie recipes too but I’m more interested in the overall taste of the food combo.

I had to hunt the internet down for this as I only briefly remembered it then I went into a deep rabbit hole of watching SpongeBob conspiracy theories on YouTube! The talent that people have to deep dive into SpongeBob is crazy!

Here’s the episode to get your brain remembering SpongeBob!

Watch the inspiration behind SpongeBob’s Jellyfish Sandwich:

I’m super excited to be recreating the famous Jellyfish Sandwich! While watching this, I remember that the jellyfish jelly seeming like it contained magic! I guess I’ll never know what’s in it to make the citizens of Bikini Bottom go this crazy!

I’m going to admit, I was super iffy about this one and kept wondering what it would taste like but surprisingly it wasn’t too bad!

A burger with grape jelly was definitely interesting BUT I’m not going to put it down because I honestly feel like some people would enjoy this one if it was on the menu at a restaurant. I also feel like kids would most likely be a big fan of this! I’m sure somewhere in the world, there has been a peanut butter and jelly burger! People are so creative now a days and flavor combinations have been wild!

I need to ask… Would you try out a burger with grape jelly?! Let me know in the comments below!

HERE IS HOW TO MAKE SpongeBob’s Jellyfish Sandwich:

WHERE CAN I FIND THESE INGREDIENTS?

I have to admit, I’ve never really had grape jelly before. I usually have strawberry and raspberry so it was completely new to me! I bought a jar from my local grocery store. I’m not entirely sure if its available in all parts of the world but you can most definitely buy it online! I used Brioche Buns and Ground Beef for the patty in this recipe! We have burger nights all the time and I like to buy the buns from a local bakery.

WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS?

The only real part of this recipe that I did myself is the burger patty. I thought the process of baking my own bread and making my own grape jam would just take me the whole entire day and I don’t think I could’ve fit that process in a YouTube video.

For the Beef Patty:

  • Ground Beef
  • Onion Powder
  • Garlic Powder
  • Minced Onions
  • Salt
  • Pepper

*Brioche Buns and Grape Jelly Bought*

CAN I SUB ANYTHING OUT?

For this recipe specifically, I wouldn’t take out the grape jelly! It would take out the fun in the whole concept of trying out SpongeBob’s Jellyfish Sandwich but if you absolutely cannot find grape jelly, then any jam would work! For the buns, you can use whatever burger bun you’d like! Sesame, ciabatta, pretzel, onion buns etc. For the patty, I totally understand that some people have different diets and lifestyles so if beef doesn’t work, no problem, use what you like! I think ground turkey or a veggie patty would work nicely too.

WHAT DOES IT TASTE LIKE?

The question I’ve been dreading to answer! I really don’t know how to explain what SpongeBob’s Jellyfish Sandwich tastes like. Luckily, grape jelly is quite mild so it’s not strong but I feel like with every bite I took, I was confused haha. Sometimes the jelly taste would be stronger and sweeter then other times, the meat and bun were strong and other times, both tastes together would come out! So, I’d say all the flavors of this came out fighting! It’s something even if you tried, you’d be left confused too but all in all, it’s exactly what it sounds like.

Sweet Jam + Ground Beef + Bread

ANY OTHER NOTES?

No other notes today! Making SpongeBob’s Jellyfish Sandwich was totally a fun experience and I can’t wait to show you my whole list of fun ideas to try!

I watched Spongebob almost religiously as a kid. Every single day after school it was my go to. That show is hysterical and witty in so many ways and I STILL watch it with my kids now. This takes me back! I quote that show on a daily basis. Love this idea and also I really love sweet and savory flavors together. This honestly is kind of like pineapple on a pizza. Which I personally enjoy. I am going to give this a try soon and let you know what I think. Love love love this one!

This is such a cute idea. It doesn’t sound like something I’d jump to try, however, I think this whole series/concept is a great idea for parents. We all know that kids can be picky eaters, making it hard to convince them to get the nutrition that they need. The idea that you could recreate meals from their favourite shows would definitely help with that!
