HERE IS HOW TO MAKE EASY TERIYAKI CHICKEN KABOBS:

WHERE CAN I FIND THESE INGREDIENTS?

To make Teriyaki Chicken Kabobs, you can find the ingredients at various locations such as:

  1. Local grocery stores: Visit your nearest supermarket or grocery store, where you’ll find all the necessary ingredients conveniently organized in different sections. Look for the meat and poultry section for chicken, the produce section for vegetables like bell peppers and onions, the international aisle for soy sauce, and the condiments section for honey, garlic, ginger, and rice vinegar.
  2. Farmers’ markets: If you prefer fresh and locally sourced ingredients, farmers’ markets are excellent places to find high-quality chicken, fresh vegetables, and sometimes even specialty sauces and spices.
  3. Online grocery delivery: Many online platforms offer grocery delivery services, allowing you to order ingredients from the comfort of your home. Popular services like Instacart, Amazon Fresh, or local grocery delivery services can bring the ingredients right to your doorstep.
  4. Asian or international markets: For an authentic touch, consider visiting Asian or international markets in your area. These specialty stores often have a wide selection of teriyaki sauce varieties, along with unique ingredients that can enhance the flavor of your kabobs.

Remember to check the availability and prices of ingredients before making your purchase. It’s also a good idea to have a recipe or shopping list handy to ensure you don’t forget anything.

WHAT ARE THE INGREDIENTS?

The ingredients to make these teriyaki chicken skewers are:

  • Wood Skewers
  • Chicken Thighs or Breast (cut into 2-inch pieces)
  • Mushrooms
  • Zucchini
  • Pineapples
  • Red Onions

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED?

So, you can cook your skewers however you’d like! I either do mine on the grill or in the oven. More days than less are in the oven. Aside from that, the actual equipment you need is a cutting board, knife, and bamboo wood skewers!

CAN I SUBSTITUTE/ADD ANYTHING OUT?

You sure can substitute or add anything! My favorite meat to use for these teriyaki skewers is chicken thighs however, you can use chicken breast, beef, pork, or tofu for these!

I usually use the vegetables that are most likely found in teriyaki chicken dishes but you can use anything you have at home or that you prefer! Some other great vegetable additions are bell peppers, broccoli, carrots, tomatoes, corn, etc!

Homemade teriyaki sauce is always the best but when time is tight, store-bought is a lifesaver! Although this recipe for specifically for teriyaki skewers, you can use other sauces like curry, Korean BBQ, garlic lemon, peanut and so much more!

WHAT DO TERIYAKI CHICKEN KABOBS TASTE LIKE?

Teriyaki chicken kabobs offer a unique and delicious flavor profile. The taste can be described as a harmonious blend of savory, sweet, and slightly tangy flavors. Here’s a breakdown of the taste components:

  1. Savory: The marinated chicken absorbs the flavors of the teriyaki sauce, which typically includes soy sauce, garlic, and ginger. These ingredients contribute to a savory, umami-rich taste that adds depth to the chicken.
  2. Sweet: Teriyaki sauce is known for its sweet notes, often achieved through the addition of ingredients like honey, mirin (sweet rice wine), or brown sugar. The sweetness provides a pleasant contrast to the savory elements and adds a touch of indulgence to each bite.
  3. Tangy: Some teriyaki sauces incorporate rice vinegar or citrus juices, such as pineapple juice, to add a tangy kick. This tanginess helps balance the sweetness and provides a bright, refreshing note to the overall flavor.

Additionally, the grilling process adds a hint of smokiness and caramelization, enhancing the taste further. The chicken’s tender texture, combined with the caramelized edges and the crispness of the grilled vegetables, creates a satisfying textural experience.

Overall, teriyaki chicken kabobs deliver a delightful fusion of flavors that leave a lasting impression on your taste buds—savory, sweet, tangy, and smoky all in one delicious package.

HOW LONG DOES IT KEEP FOR?

These chicken skewers keep in the fridge for about 2 days. If you’re using the grill, I find BBQ’d food isn’t that great after 2 days. If you’re using the oven, you can definitely store it for up to 4 days. Be sure that you let the skewers fully cool then store them in the fridge in an airtight container. You can meal prep this recipe as well and pack it with some white rice, roast potatoes, or a salad!

INSPIRATIONS FOR THIS RECIPE?

On the blog, we are always looking for new inspirations for easy dinner ideas! Chicken teriyaki is a crowd favorite and just an awesome dinner to whip up when you have a busier-than-normal kind of week. With summer around the corner, grilling is an easy way to go to spend some time outside and enjoy the long summer evenings!

ANY OTHER NOTES?

Yes, if you can, use thick bamboo skewers and soak them in water for 15 minutes to avoid the skewers burning you! The thin wood skewers burn quite easily!
